Many of us remember the fun we had either as kids or with our children, hunting for treats and decorated eggs on Easter Sunday morning. Your dogs can have lots of fun, too, hunting pieces of hot dogs in tall grass, behind and on top of inanimate objects, under rocks. Once they get the hang of it, it's so much fun to watch them, and it's really amazing how they will find every single one of them!
I think this is a great way to make a fun game for the dog, doing something they do naturally. I just put my dogs on a very long line and let them work by themselves. They develop a deep nose and a very free style of hunting and searching. You really get to see what kind of drives your dog has pretty quick, this way.
Then, when all the hot dog bits are gone, you can bring out the squeaky toys and throw toys and really let your dog blow off steam.
Hint: Keep a bowl of fresh water available at all times, and watch out for foxtail grass.. the heads are starting to ripen and break off, right about now. Better to avoid areas with foxtails after the end of March.
Have fun!!!

I would get my old female to go and search for any eggs the kids missed. She loved the game and got to eat the eggs herself. It was always fun..
