Extra sensory perception
Once I have had dog (Timber was his name) and people would give me combination of commands on a paper. Sit, down, stay,.... And I would not say a word or move and the dog would perform the combination.
I know and Mabel sees UFOs every day when she waters petunias you may think.

My new boy has decided that he must defend us from worms.

They are obviously plotting to take over the planet and thus must be dug up from every inch of the yard and dispatched.

...

Either worms or moles and he's just not going deep enough into the ground, but damn if he isn't given it that old college try!

I know it is possible. It requires a different kind of dog and a different way of interacting with your dog than sport type training. Hans....could the dog see you? Did you ever try it with the dog on the other side of a wall?

When i use to work at a training facility I would have a dog on a down/stay from across the room. With certain dogs that I had a good bond with i would think about calling it to come to me and then the dog ended up doing it.Since i didn't actually say it I had to put it back where it was and correct it for breaking a down. I started to try not to think commands. My one dog does it as well. Also when I was living in Kentucky I had the dogs in an outside pen. My mom said she would know when I was down the road cause the dogs would jump up from sleeping and look towards the drive way. When my mom looked to see if I was there I wasn't but then came around the corner a few min after. It isn't like my truck was that loud either. I do believe animals have a sith sence...and no I don't mean seeing dead people!!

I have even done  it in such a way that I coud see the dog in reflection in a window. And I know that he did not watch the reflection because he was looking in the direction of where I was. He was the most reliable when I tryed to make him down from sit and sit from down. Sit from down is not command which dog would like to do since if the dog brakes down he goes usually all the way up. I know my reputation is taking dive now but it is the truth.

Funny this is brought up.... I knew a Schutzhund trainer once and he was really deep into dog psycology. He also believed dogs could "smell" different commands. Like pharamones. He showed me once and it was kinda cool. But he struck me as strange anyway. I am on the fence with this one.

Many of our animals are very adept  at reading the most subtle cues (i.e., body language), things that you are simply not consciously aware that you are providing.  The more "attuned" to each other you are, the stronger the bond will seem and the more amazing experiences you will share.  Some dogs are more oblivious, and just can't seem to focus outside their own heads to see what's going on around them.  Sometimes that improves with maturity, and sometimes they're just more receptive in other ways.

I have dogs who stare at goats.
