I hope Romero gets the maximum sentence. Poor Buddy's paws were bloody when his body was found and he strangled to death from the rope around his neck as he was dragged behind the pickup. The evidence for Romero's guilt is overwhelming: video of his truck and tires tracks and paw prints, later body prints in fresh snow. Only the maximum sentence (and it's not enough) will send a message to people that it is wrong to kill dogs like this. This was deliberate, intentional cruelty done with the intent of causing the maximum suffering. I add this because some of you weren't here when this happened and don't know the circumstances of Buddy's death. He was a beloved family pet who was stolen from the back of a truck and later killed deliberately by an evil man at the urging of the evil man's evil sister.

The petition was delivered to the prosecutor a few months ago. Michelle Heldmeyer knows that people all over the world signed the petition and other emailed or wrote snail mail letters to her about this outrageous crime.

If I read the articles correctly, the creep's sister was the one who stole both the dogs (Buddy and the Labrador) from the back of the pickup truck. Personally I hope she gets to be very familiar with a prison cell. I also think Hodie is right and the guy who dragged the dog will get nothing but a smack on the wrist. I wonder if the Labrador has been returned?
