I am NOT knocking Grim, there are many who would never own a dog without Grim in the pedigree, but I prefer not to own a dog that is known for producing what he does. I prefer a dog that produces considerable hardness, but not one that is known for throwing bad hips and some handler agressive offspring.
This is not a pissing match to me, I am simply sharing what I have learned from talking to many wonderful breeders. For those who doubt my knowledge, please feel free to PM me and I will gladly provide references.

This is a list I made up, with the following criteria:
1. Ratings certified under the German SV (A-stamp) sorry, no czech dogs!
2. >100 progeny sired
3. >20% total progeny (x-rayed or not) received "a-1" rating
4. >33% of total progeny's x-rays were submitted for certification
5. >50% of the submitted x-rays received "a-1" rating
6. >40% Estimated Breed Value (item #5 modified by any disproportionate # of x-rays not submitted)
The #6 item is a formula I devised to eliminate manipulation of the system to make a producer appear better than he produces, while still allowing equal advantage to the producer whose larger proportion of progeny are submitted for certification. This is a major reason I do not give a lot of weight to the HD-Zuchtwerte (ZW Breed Value) system.
There was also a study conducted by the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hannover Germany that was published by the Journal of Animal Breeding and Genetics on this very topic last summer, specifically in regard to CHD, the German Shepherd, and SV's data interpretation. Simulation study on the effects of excluding offspring information for genetic evaluation versus using genomic markers for selection in dog breeding
If I were considering a puppy, I'd be giving a serious look at this breeding, and make a reservation asap. Faro Policia (3-2 on Bero) is well known for producing great hips and strong working aptitude. The dam he's bred to is no slouch herself, on or off the field, and with an impressive Penn Hip score.

I was just about to post a hip chart darylehert posted on a Fero thread that looked something like what I had seen before. So I'm not surprised he has this info., and probably was the poster of the charts I remember. Thanks, Daryl
Thses PDF's look like what I had seen before in another thread. This board needs a favorite thread function...I'll be saving these pdf's for quick reference. Thanks, again!
