I will be rebuilding my outdoor kennels this spring & I am looking for feedback on what did or did not work for you & why.
The weather conditions vary greatly thru the year from heavy snow & -20 degree temps in winter, extreme wet/muddy conditions in spring, with summers that can be very hot/dry to hot/humid. So I am on the lookout for materials that will hold up to these conditions.
I have a 40' x 15' indoor area & 40' x 50' outside area to use. I need to kennel up to 4 adult dogs(seperately) at one time plus a seperate/secure "puppy" area. Inside the building I would like to include areas for a bath/grooming station & whelping room. I also want to set it up so any dogs kenneled can go in/out of the building.
The flooring of the indoor area is concrete with rubber matting over it. The outside is currently dirt/grass combo. I would like to use something else for outside besides concrete. I was thinking along the lines of compressed gravel, for drainage with either rubber pavers or cedar chips over it. Suggestions on that???
I am also debating if I should use solid partitions for the bottom 3'-4' of the oudoor kennel walls or just stick with fencing the whole height. The dividing kennel walls will be shared & I hate to have any fence fighting or running. I don't have a problem with it now, but not sure how any future dogs may act.
Yes I did search for posts on this subject & I found some good ideas, but not quite what I'm looking for :)
