Thanks for answering!

The safety and wellbeing of my dogs is a number one priority.  I would only allow someone I trust a 100 per cent to look after them. If there were any doubts in my mind, then I would not have that person look after them. It sounds like you have some doubts in your mind about leaving your dog there. If it were me and I had these doubts, then I wouldn't leave them with that person. Trust is everything in my book when it comes to my dogs.  I am sorry I haven't answered your question about a contract and I know you said there is no reason to suspect anything, however you must have an element of doubt in your mind to be raising this question.

Like the first answer you should only leave your dog with someone you trust 100%
But, I wouldn't do it no matter what.
I did leave a female one time with someone like that and looking back I should of never did it. Then I came back early and my female was loose running all around the farm. So, then that sets your dog up to being bred by other dogs-any dog.
I was really upset that I left her in someone elses hands then.
A written contract is a great idea but if the dog gets loose and runs off then the contract doesn't mean anything.

Surely you didn't leave her registration papers with her?  Why would someone steal a breeding female with no papers, and no way to register litters?  Not to mention the fact that if they are breeders or business people, you could ruin their reputation in a heartbeat if anything "foul" was done.  No reason to suspect any foul play if you are dealing with honest people - and I'm sure you know these people personally, or have done reference checks of some sort before leaving your female with them, right?

If I didn't trust someone, I wouldn't do it. Ever. I left Capri at Steinig Tal w/no qualms whatsoever. No responsible breeder wants their reputation tarnished and they won't risk it by being careless w/someone else's dog. A contract means nothing if the dog is gone or hurt. Maybe it'll help from the financial responsibility aspect, but who cares about money  if your dog is gone?

I agree, if you have any doubts, don't leave your dog. I've left mine a few times and never worried because I trusted the people she was with.

contracts won't stand up unless you can prove negligence in the case of a dog gone missing.  I keep many females here for breeding to my stud dog - in fact right now I have two staying here.   I am very careful with them, they are my responsiblity not only to return to their owners in perfect shape and health, but to return to them pregnant.  I can't imagine doing anything different - or a reason someone would.
