Shucks, Abhay, sorry to be a repeat, guess I just took up Duval's challenge a bit too much on the literal side.

Raymond, you still breathing? Thought maybe something had happened to you. I so thought my prayers had been answered.

No way Beetree. You didn't repeat anything. It's a very nice thread.  I was just saying that I had posted the vid before. I had not seen the info you posted until today.

Scary thing is I remember my brother being invited wild boar hunting by his friends back in the 80's down here in Florida.  The favored breeds were Southern Blackmouth Curs and Catahoulas.  I think the Curs were the chase/track dogs and the Catahoula were the catch dogs but I may have that backward.  That was were he first learned how much gators LOVE dog h'orderves with a dog main course.  His friends used to trap the boars, fatten them up then slaughter them.   I also remember one of my brother's friends had an uncle who was a police chief and had always used Curs as unofficial K9s, said the breed was the best for tracking and apprehending criminals as well as sniffing out the marijuana patches and moonshine stills in the swamps. His dogs were also great at finding lost tourists and such.  He used to laugh that his Curs could sniff out a lie at 20 paces and were the best lie detectors ever.

Catahoulas are normally used as bay-up dogs to find and keep the hog in one place. Then the catch dogs are brought in.

As far as Catahoulas go, I had a Catahoula kennel for about 10 years. They are incredibly smart, fast, and wiley. They haven't been overbred like other breeds (yet) and retain a lot of natural instincts. Awesome dogs, but not for beginners....although the breeders will dumb them down in order to sell more puppies, I'm sure.
