Two Moons

by Two Moons on 10 March 2010 - 04:03

Got a hair up my arse today and bought two yearling Lady Amherst Pheasant Cocks.
I used to raise Ornamental Pheasant and I guess I miss looking at them.
Now I need to find a few hens.

Picture stolen from an internet site........ doesn't show much tail.
This is a fully matured bird.

Something else to feed now.
This is the mating display,

Moons.

OMG Moons, he's beautiful. I love feathered friends also. I have an african grey parrot that never shuts up, and boy does he have a potty mouth sometimes. He is so funny. He sounds just like me correcting the dogs. I can't help but laugh and think, "Wow, Do I really sound like that?"  I was told that Greys have the ability to sound like all members of the family, and its true..

I really love parrots and pheasants. Moons I have never seen those before they are exquisite and as for the African Grey's they are the best talkers ever,

I have owned a Galah ( He truly loved my husband tooooooo much and became overly protective of him ) eventually I had to give him away.

                           Nanday Conure

                           Princess parrots

                           Regent Parrots

Superb Parrots (which I truly loved)

These days I am happy just to feed the wild ones of which we have plenty.

Georgous Birds!!  I have a Congo African Grey, Bastian.  He was a plucker/shredder when I brought him home.  We called him the fuzzy chicken!!  Fully feathered now.  I was just offered another Grey.  I think I will take her.  I need them to keep the dog and cats in line!!  Bastian shoes horses, also.  He loves to clinch!!

Gorgeous.  Where are they from?  I've been thinking of getting some "regular" pheasant and releasing them on my property - used to have them wild around the area but no longer (that I can tell) -

I too have birds - Lady Gouldian Finches which are the prettiest birds I know of - a green-cheek conure, and an African brown-headed Parrot.  No talking, I don't like the screeching.  my birds are quiet or they sing, much better.

Beautiful!  I've also kept birds... seven Budgies, a Cockatiel, a Red Lored Amazon and a Jenday Conure (my favorite).

Krazy Bout K9s

Hey Moons,
I used to raise ornamental pheasants, regualr pheasants, wild Mallards and wild Canadian Geese, while in Minnesota. I released everything but the ornamentals. I loved them, would like to do that again, but I have to fix up my chicken coop so the darn fox stay out of here...lost all my chickens for the past 5 yrs...
Good luck with them and keep us posted...
I used to have parrots and all the other little birds too...Guess I just love all animals...snakes, salamanders, crayfish, guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, lizards, heck my parents never knew what animals I might have hidden in my bedroom...LOL...

Amazing how much so many of us have in common! I have never had beautiful pheasants like you just purchased, Moons, but we had peacocks for a long time. I am partial to the Canada Geese, which become so tame when they return to us each year.

We have had cockatiels, conures and macaws. Currently we are *blessed* with an outspoken macaw that has picked up many german commands.

Good luck with your beautiful, new addition, Moons.

Beautiful, beautiful bird Moons,  My friend has an African Grey,   Her husband passed 3 years ago, and Gabby still speaks in his voice...Kind of weird sometimes, but neat for my friend...
