These people keep a male German Shepherd as Guard dog, he is approx 1 1/2 yr old and is very sweet, no mean bones in his body. His  dog house does not protect him from the rain, all these rainy and cold days has been  soaked and muddy all night lone, he barks and barks and is despearate to get out of the smal enclosure where he is at. He was limping in the back leg and needs medical attention. No food or water bowls were available for the dog. Filthy conditions, feces all over the place, the dog eats his own feces. The dog is in a small enclosure in the left side towards the back of the building but you can see the dog from the street

Please help this neglected German Shepherd   Thanks,

This rescue, if legitimate, should know EXACTLY what authorities to report this situation. Unfortunately, if the animal control people are overwhelmed, they might do little, but one must first try.

May not be an AC shelter with a good rep...or maybe the rescue is just too full to pull him. I know it should be done legally, but sometimes a confiscated dog doesn't do a whole lot better in the AC. And maybe they are trying to solicit someone to go and offer to buy the dog from that auto body shop.

If it's in a major city isn't there that Animal Cops Huston that is on Animal Planet? I know that sounds stupid but hell get them out there to bust the guy.I just don't get why people can't at least provide a little bit of shelter.Even when I lived on the Indian Rez I had shelter for my dogs and made one for all the puppys.Needless to say they all thought I was a crazy white woman for caring about the "useless dogs" but I didn't care.I couldn't watch them suffer in the wicked monsoon season.

If that is in the Houston City Limit, that would be BARC, NOT a good place at all.
If it is Harris County, that would be almost as bad.
What is this rescue asking for? A foster? Have the approached the owner? Have they filed any reports?
I also would say that reporting it to the Houston SPCA would be my first try.

I'm trying to get in touch with them. Goose, if I do, are you near there?

by Goose on 27 February 2010 - 03:02

Yes, I am close and I can/could hold a dog. However, I already have a few fosters and simply can not take on another. I do not mind holding or driving for a bit.

The next time you guys hear about a dog getting stolen, just know that it more likely to be some dog thief disguised as a rescuer as it is to be a vivisectionist.

Guys,

With all the concern I can muster for the poor animal.  We must remember animals are possessions not humans.  While this party is asking someone to steal another mans possession this  would probably be the same man that is quick to defend the right (if animals actually have rights, from a legal stand point) of the Killer Whale whom killed his trainer.  After having killed two prior trainers to this one.

This begs the question. Are we doing right to steal a possession? (BREAKING THE LAW IN ALL 50 STATES.)  Not another human being who is being abused, but a a living possession?

Some say, but its an animal, a dog in particular!!!  Be it a snake, a gold fish, an ant farm, a turtle, a hamster, cat, or a dog? (They are possessions.)  So, just where do we stop? and where does the law stop its prosecution? Hey,  What about plants? Many believe they have feelings and yet people leave them in the cold to die, oh, how they must suffer! Someone must pay if we believe all possession with feelings must be rescued!

As most of you know, I have GSD's.  But what you may not know is I live in a state with what are referred to as "Castle Laws" in brief this means that I have the right to protect me and mine whether in my home or on my property if someone is threatening to do harm to me or my possessions.  So if someone tried to remove my dogs from the kennel (I pity them as the dogs are well able to defend themselves) I have BY LAW the right to take whatever means necessary  to stop the perpetrator.  Unless it is done by legal means such as a search warrant, probable cause, etc. But not by a trespassing "animal rights activists". I will stop them, night or day.

So, I would not try a covert midnight run . . . . it might get real ugly, real quick.
