My  8 month old import dog's left year was flopped over while his right stood tall.  At 6 1/2 months I started to be concerned.
My Vet refused to tape the ear(s), so I made an appointment with another Vet who would.  The appointment was to be a week or more after I called.  Of course a couple of days before the appointment the floppy ear stood.  He is now 8 months and both still standing.

Enterprise, I am glad that your ordeal resolved itself; but I agree that six (6) months is a long time to wait for an ear to stand erect. It's great that it finally did so.

I for one, do not understand why a veterinarian would refuse to brace an ear - but that is their business. I think we all agree that a dog with "slow" or weak ears is not the best candidate for breeding, but they can be everything else for that they have the ability. Congratulations - in a manner of speaking.

Best Regards,

Thank God its up. I always have a tendency to get nervous for no reason. Seems everytime I get nervous to the point of giving up, the ear magically stands tall. Go figure.  You know whats just as bad? When the ears are so strong that half of the ear is tipping backwards towards the tail. I just went through that with our boy Dax. So what about a pic of those pretty ears....?

They usually drop down again at around 6 months when they are teething...then pop back up when done...

QUESTION ?  Has anyone ever had a puppy get to the ear stage of a tepee over the skull and then flop and never to become erect ?

I have had 2 out of one litter from last year  -- both tepees until about 16 - 18 weeks and then completely flopped and at 6 months still had not gone up.
