Several countries in Europe, such as Germany and France, have already banned GM crops. But the U.S. FDA has done us a potential dangerous disservice by simply taking Monsanto's word that their GM crops are safe and not doing any testing!"

If they are feeding GM corn to us, you can be sure they are feeding it to our dogs.
Well, dear posters, what to do you think? Is this a real concern, or really just a scary story?

Just more proof that we die a litle more each day.

As for the problem with corn, a far more serious and more likely issue is that corn, like other things, can be contaminated with fungus (and pesticide residue if not handled properly in the field). This includes aflatoxin which can kill and for which there is a test required and a standard as to how much contaminant is allowed, both in corn used for animals and humans. In most recalls involving corn, and peanuts, for example, it was aflatoxin that was at fault. It is also ubiquitous in the environment.
Personally, I would not get too excited about this single study just yet. On both sides of the coin, there are reasons people want to immediately assume there is some huge conspiracy going on. The fact is, the race is on to provide more crops and food for more people and provide varieties that will feed populations who are, as of now, dying of starvation. As more and more GM crops are grown, even under experimental conditions, there is a risk, and possibly some benefit, to the transfer of GM genes to "native" plants. If one studies the history of any given crop, one will immediately recognize that such modifications have been going on, without thought or knowledge, since man first practiced agriculture.

You might be interested in this.Michael Pollan says "corn" is a 4 letter word.My mom has read many of his books and she doesn't eat corn anymore and has changed her life style and for being 65 she looks like she is in her 40s to 50s.

Also big on my suspect list of not wanting to be a guinea pig, anything having to do with SOY. You can pretty much know all your Soy is genetically modified. And see how they push it on women of a certain age, LOL
I do beleve this issue has been squashed for quite sometime and I am not a sky is falling, conspiracy lurks around the corner type of gal. I say this because years ago I subscribed to OG magazine and they were big on being a watchdog for the little guy with science and facts, then next thing you knew, all the outspoken editiors disappeared one by one, and the concern for an unproven embracing of GMO's by Monsanto continues, unchallenged. That magazine now sucks, by the way.

I don't eat corn anymore either, and I look like I'm in my 40's too!
