She gets scared on hearing any noises, sudden movements etc...
She got pregnant & when she gave birth she ate her puppies one by one immediately upon delivering them. My friend who witnessed the incident is currently panicked & is asking as to whether he can retry breeding her & / or she will repeat eating her litter every time?
Has anybody experienced this? Is there any solution treatment for the female not to repeat the incident?
Could you please help him if possible.

I would never ever breed a female with knowledge that she wasn't a good mother, for any reason.

With the temperament that she has...I wouldn't have bred her in the first place!! The pups tend to take the behavior of the mother and that would mean more dogs that had bad nerves like her. Was she a titled dog? I can't see it being so if it has such bad nerve....then again yes I can. As I have seen some weak nerve dogs out there that have titles and shouldn't.
Don't breed her again.JMO

We love our dogs and accept their faults. Of course not every dog is perfect but in German Shepherds it is even more important that temperament be right for breeding. Not only is a flawed temperament passed on to the puppies through genetics, she is imprinting them as she cares for them. I have read studies that say the mother is more of an influence on the puppies than the father for this reason. I think I remember something in Willis's book The Genetics of the German Shepherd about this.
What you want from a pair of dogs you are going to breed is strong nerves and courage. Fearful, shy dogs are the ones who bite because they are scared - fear biter.
I am not a breeder, I just read a lot. There are many experienced breeders on this board who can tell you from their personal experience.
Tell your friend to get her spayed and give her a wonderful life.
