Old Style = Real Dog
New Style = Sport Dog
The real dogs in a sense have been come extinct.. Please view my PPD ONYX on You Tube..
Punch in ONYX HAUS ONYX and please give your opinion on his character, as this is no "sleeve happy syndrome" dog..
In my opinion your dog is either a Real dog or a Sport Dog... Would love to see footage of Sport dogs on the beat in the dark streets and alley ways... Does anyone know of any footage of a Sport dog proving they are for Real, really want to check it out...
Cheers

Hi,
Your video proves nothing.
"sleeve happy syndrome & sport dog" are labels that do not apply to every dog.
(even if they do good bite work on a sleeve)
No offense,
Lee

Uhhh I agree with Lee....REALLLLY proves nothing. So the dog is barking.I don't see it biting anything or anyone. So what is your point? How is that a old style "real" dog?

Sure Lee you say not all dogs are just for show/sport, but most of them are like say 90 % +++++++ All show and NO REAL GO IMO..
For Lav K9 yes the dog is barking in a civil way, out of sharpeness and yes he is not biting anything.. But i can usure you that its not fun and games for Good OL' ONYX , will be posting in the near future on You Tube some natural OLD SCHOOL DOG..The barking is i'm coming to get "you" and .....Not give me the sleeve and/or please "go" away i'm stressed to the MAX, my hackeles are going to go up and tail tucked in between my legs.
Onyx has got a good positive outlook on life, raised to be confident and independant with no need for affection but always willing to please... , and not surpressed with correction and BS... THIS DOG IS THE MASTER of the HAUS...
The real deal for those looking for a PPD..

Ok that is nice but do you have controle over him and the obedience to call him off or out him if he bites? I too had a very serious German Shepherd that was civil and didn't care if the guy had a sleeve or not.In fact if the sleeve was dropped the dog went back to the guy to try to take another "limb" off. I guess what I am not understanding is what are you trying to say? Your dog isn't the only dog out there that is like that. Looks like a nice dog but to just show him barking at someone that isn't posing a threat....isn't all that impressive. Now if someone was coming at you and screaming and throwing things at you and the dog didn't back down and busted past all that then that might be something to see.

Hey Lav
No he does not out as he has not been trained to out, just felt that he had so much spark about him at a young age and built on what he had... Basically what you said he is a dog to go after limbs, and this is what he was bred for and thats what he should be living for..Dont get me wrong if a dog has been bred for sport then that dog should excell in his field and not be pressured into being something it is not .. No Onyx is not the only 1 out there, but dont see much out there in person or the world wide 'You Tube', besides the malamois/dutch shepherd etc... Hope to get some new footage soon of a similar scenario you had mentioned.... Onyx has only had half a dozen bites, his first introduction to a sleeve was as if, he had done it a 100 times with a full firm grip and strong in fight...
Do you think this type of dog could of been trained to release on command and if so then would this then SPOIL the dogs true character and hardness ???
Cheers

with the training to bite comes the responsibility to train in some control. If you have no control and no release you have an extremely dangerous time bomb of liability. A truly strong, and hard dog will not be effected by control work if it is trained properly. To put it into perspective if our police dogs do not have control and release on command they do not certify and consequently do not work the street.

I totally agree with gsdsch3v!!! Sorry to say Onyx but people like you are the reason that GSDs get a bad wrap and are on the dangerous dog list!! My dog was a serious dog but I had control and it didn't "spoil" his true hardness one bit!! If a dog is truely a "hard" dog nothing should effect it...especially an out command!!! Yes that type of dog SHOULD be trained to release.ANY dog that does any protection work shoule be trained to out!!! If it wasn't able to be trained then I would say that it isn't a stable dog and shouldn't be doing that kind of work in the first place. As gsdsch3v said....it is a dangerous time bomb and in the hands of the wrong person. There is a responsibility owning a dog or any animal and more so when one is trained for personal protection. It would be a sad shame if your dog bit someone cause you didn't have the control and it had to be put down cause your ignorance!! JMPO
