Description We would like to invite everyone to join us in Honoring the amazing man that Tom was by celebrating his Legacy in the mark he left on dogs sports from coast to coast. All money collected at this event will be sent to Tom's beautiful family that he left behind.
Our goal for this weekend is to come together and remember tom in two days of Training and competition, to celebrate what he meant to so many of us and to leave anyone that did not know Tom with an idea of the man that he was.
Tom was many different things to many people and as the message boards, the newspaper articles and, the words of those who loved him, have circulated the last month you will hear things like excellent trainer, phenomenal decoy, and always the constant mentor. Tom embraced the world of dog sports of all kinds, he left his mark on many breeds as an ambassador, and he mentored so many that will follow him. You will often hear the words everything I learned I learned from Tom. Tom left you with a feeling of belief, belief in him and belief in yourself. Tom was a man who could read a dog like noone else, but was legally blind. He never let his disability be known, because frankly he lived life like he didnt know himself. With this alone he left the biggest legacy any person could ever hope to leave and that was one of inspiration. To those who knew him and those who didnt everyone agrees that he was a legend.
Tom was from the west coast, but during his time here in Chicago he left a huge mark. As devastating as his passing was I think anyone who knew him knows that he went happy, he saw dreams that he never dreamt come true, and it is our honor to celebrate his Legacy by doing what he would have wanted us to. Take it to the field.
There will be many more details to follow including a formal website. We are planning a complete day of training on Saturday with representation of all dog sports in attendance. We will have a weight pull Saturday evening that will be sanktioned Irondog. We will provide more information when we know who all will be particpating.
Sunday there will be two protection tournaments, with one being a mondo/ psa themed protection tournament and one being a SCH 3 routine with only two blinds. There will also be an Irondog triathalon and hardest hitting and esquieve competions as well.
The weeekend will cost $60 for training all day saturday and this will include entry into the competions on Sunday excluding irondog witch will be the standard rates. If you can only attend on Sunday we will charge separately for each event.
If you will not be training or trialing but would like to come out and observe and support the event the cost will be $10.00
We will also be holding a raffle.
We have had a huge reponse from many that want to help and this is all volunteer and we thank everyone for that. Our goal is to have zero expenses that weekend so that all of our proceeds can go to Kristi and the kids.
We do need asssistance on Awards and Raffle prizes and ask that if you cannot come you would consider helping out in these areas, or sending a donation.
The Award sponsorship is $25 and after donations are in we will determine what the awards will be. This can be mailed or paypaled to the addresses below.
Raffles, donations, and sponsorships can be mailed to..

What a nice tribute and activity to honor Tom. I did not know him, but I am sure I would have appreciated who he was. Good luck with the event and I hope many people come out and support it in his memory.
