Cross posted from another list thought it was worth discussion:

All good questions.... the loyalty pledge has me concerned as well... not only for the "competing organization" part, but for the binding arbitration agreement part. I'm OK with binding arbitration and the bylaws as passed/published doesn't allow for limits on awards. USA EB seems to have taken it on their own to amend the bylaw as was passed/published and placed award limits on the arbitration. That's disingenuous at best. For example I theoretically could win the national championship and meet all the remaining requirements to make the world team and USA can, in and of themselves, decide that they don't want me on the world team. It can go to arbitration and the most that I can be awarded is the cost of my membership. This change that USA has made (even from the published bylaw amendment) places all the power in the EB. They can even go so far as to break the bylaws and if you (general membership) don't like it... here's your $60 back... They now have zero accountability.... how did THAT happen?
Thoughts?

Are those of you that are signing the "loyalty cards" ok having no recourse with the executive board?

Eric, I don't have a real response for you, but I do recall reading all of that verbiage when I opened my membership renewal notice several days ago. I did not complete the membership renewal notice, but I did write a letter addressed to Lyle Rotemeyer, et al, and explained that I intended to withdraw my membership and not renew, and furnished two (2) reasons for my decision. I received no reply, and of course do not expect one.

I think you are touching on the core matter at hand here: the executive board desires to answer to no one and be wholly free of any liability concerning their decisions.

Best Regards,
Bob-O.

Eric:

I thought you were leaving the organization already will you please go if your going? It will be everyones individual choice to leave or stay. The cards will fall where they may and it will be up to those of us who choose to stay to clean up the mess.

this can be said of many different organizations now a days!

Wait till after the 2013 WUSV and the WDA finds again there status as a red headed step child, and all the 1one member 1 vote stuff gets it,s real validity.

I hope it works out for all.

If all the people who object to the new dictatorial measures leave USA, who will be left with any spine to change this direction? So I can see the wisdom of staying in USA, at least for one more year, in an effort to right the ship.

Why doesn't someone write something up. Like the Cato Institute did with Obama's stimulous. This is clearly an issue of individual organizations. Use your "individual" rights and publish something. Take out a full page ad, and make it known.

Or make a movie !!!!   LMAO  YAY America !!!!!

Erik,

I agree with Bob.  Why don't you rededicate your efforts to make the WDA the top notch organization you say it is?  Good luck to you.

Does any  belong now or ever  to GSDCA or WDA and what "inside informormation" does anyone have that GSDCA or WDA becomes as was said above in a situation of "WDA finds again there status as a red headed step child, and all the 1one member 1 vote stuff gets it,s real validity." when they post such comments?

What past or present board or committee of either WDA or GSDCA do any people belong to make these kinds of remarks?

Most WDA members also belong to GSDCA and any that don't certainly may join - again also in GSDCA , they have 1 member, 1 vote and with 1700 votes would certainly have the majority to keep the relationship with WDA - members make the decisions in GSDCA, not clubs.

GSDCA is the second largest GSD breed club in the world, second only to the SV - USCA ranks behind other clubs and is not made of of members who have nothing but GSD's - unlike USCA who is made up of all breed clubs and was never established to be a breed club - read the incorporation statement.  WUSV is the World Union of German Shepherd Clubs not World Union of Schutzhund Clubs.

USCA has already been in trouble before and members bailed them out to the tune of over 30,000 to the IRS.  Many of those same members who bailed them are members of  GSDCA and WDA also.  I doubt if they will be around to do a bailout again after this last amemdment.

Also, Eric has every right to bring this up again - this board is open to all - it is not owned by USCA nor its members.  My word USCA is a controlling bunch.  First membership restictions and now out to censor a public forum such as this!

I think its good that Eric brought it up again, because people are still trying to make decisions and USCA still has not come forth with any compelling reason why people sign the "loyalty" oath.

Again, there is no competition in the organzations - USCA is not a breed club. This whole thing has been about trying yet again to control who has the WUSV team.  Its petty and the members who are generous enough to support all clubs are the ones caught in the crossfire.  People need to make informed decisions where they want to spend their dollars - do you want to shop at a store that tells you can only shop there or not at all, or do you want to shop wherever you want without pressure?

USCA is not forthcoming with information.  They have a hard time articulating as not only exhibited by lack of reasoning on this subject, but had not even communicated and understood correctly what designation they held with the SV on the judges designations.  If they are this confused and are the "leaders" then I cannot immagine how confused members are.

The fact is that GSDCA and WDA are not going away and will maintain and keep the WUSV membership long past the 2013 WUSV, which by the way is the 100th year for GSDCA - it is also the 2nd oldest GSD club in the world, second only to the SV by 4 years.  Now how old is USCA?

GSDCA has over $1,000,000.00 in its bank - how much does USCA have?  Which organization had to have a bailout by members now forced to make a decision on membership?  Which club is a pure GSD club and which one is pure any breed sport dog?  Which one requires you to be a member to trial?  Not GSDCA or WDA.

It appears that due to USCA articles of incorporation as a sport dog club and not a GSD breed club, that making bylaws that single out members who belong to competing GSD organizations could well prove to be unenforceable if challenged in Missouri State courts or brought to the attention of the IRS.

continued from above:

USCA demanding USCA members not be a member of a competing GSD organziation is invalid as if GSDCA or WDA would make a bylaw change to say members could not be a member of any competing Schutzhund organziation.

USCA only exists for the past 20 years due to AKC not allowing biting dog sports- that is over with now. I for one am glad both USCA and GSDCA through WDA got around the ban by their formation - but this competition thing created by thsi amendment is just ridiculous.

GSDCA will be around and having thorugh WDA all the things and more including the fielding a team for FCI now and in the future for a long time. There is great opptunity for German type and working GSD's to play a big part in the future of GSDCA. All it takes is individual membership and individual vote.

With GSDCA and WDA you do not have to group togehter 5 people at $60 each, form a club for more money and spend money on equipment and spend even more on holding mandatory events - then having to raise capital to send your delgate to a meeting to vote.  Price of 1 vote in USCA, $2000 +

Price of 1 vote in GSDCA or WDA - $60.00, belong to both for $120.00 and get a vote in both - savings of about $1,880.00 and you can vote with a mail in ballot for the price of a stamp, no travel expense.

For about another $20.00 you get a family membership and however many in the family there are, and they get individual voting rights too.  More savings and more power.
