I swear he's got a lot to say these days. What's got your dog talking? He's a little stir crazy with all the howling winds and falling snow. Doing his pacing thing with a yip yip here and a ruff ruff there. Think nintendo could make a Wii game for cooped up dogs?

Thank goodness he just stopped! Sometimes he reminds me of the story of the tiger who ran round and round so much, he turned into butter.

I'm pouring wine, any one want a glass?

me! Me!  I share your pain, cooped up noisy dogs, making me nuts! LOL

It's the squirrels.  They live in the trees in the yard behind ours, and love to run along the top of the fence or the utility lines.  She hasn't caught one yet, but it's not for trying.  When we first moved here, it took a few days to figure out why she would bark out the upstairs windows since I knew she couldn't see if there was someone at the door from there.

So you guys don't train in the snow? No tracking or obedience or whatever? Or is training too hard to drive to this time of year?

Echo is driving me nuts!  It's bitterly cold here so no, we don't train when it's snowing.  Not like it has been lately.  However we do go outside to play in the snow and that is what Echo is talking about.  She yips and grumbles and stands there staring at me wanting to do something.  We've done some OB here in the house and even some fetch with a ball but she wants outside so she can run and jump and catch snowballs.  I can only take so much and this constant talking is unreal.

It's 28 degrees F. here right now and we just had 2.5 days of snow.  I just took one of mine out for a nice long walk and some OB and ball.  Came back sweating.  Hubby took the other one.  It's nice out if you dress for it.

28 degrees!  That's balmy!  We won't get close to the freezing mark for all of next week.  As long as the wind doesn't pick up it's not too bad.  But this Kansas wind will cut you in two!

Yes, those single digits with wind, or the below zeros with wind, will put you into misery in a hurry!

Yes, Oakley's been more vocal since the snow started falling, more barking, whining, and all the other stuff they "say".

Yes, it is a balmy 28 degrees but that's just today and there is really not much wind.
We do this just about every night.

-22 C here today, with a -28 windchill...

Nope, I did NOT do any training. Yes, the dogs and I are a bit stir-crazy. My Shiloh pup annoys the heck out of me by not wanting to come in from the yard when I call the other two in. She hasn't got a lot of undercoat (she's shedding her puppy coat right now) so she SHOULD be the first to want in! Instead, she makes me stand there, freezing my buns off, and cooling the house down, while she decides whether to come in or not.

There's been quite a few times I've slammed the gate shut, and told her she can stay out there and freeze, for all I care.

Of course, 5 minutes later, she's jumping at the gate, begging to come in!
