I had two dogs and intended to keep both. There was no contest over the female because she had just gotten a mild displastic rating from OFA. But, he challenged me for Shadow, who was 5 years old. He said that he would take Shadow for $5,000.00!!!!!! Yes, that is five thousand. Then, he would sell him to a police dog breeder/trainer. My husband was the supervisor of the K9 unit for the sheriff's department he worked for. I called the trainer, and he hemmed and hawed and said, well, I like Shadow a lot, but he's 5 years old I don't know if I would pay that much now.
Sooooooo, I had to agree. extortion.
Here is my $5,000.00 dog that I paid $250.00 for at a back yard breeder in Cloverdale.

I gave my ex the house, I kept the dogs, and haven't looked back.

I gave this woman the house (on a hill, tennis court, the works), all the free cash/investments, and more -- in order to "buy" the custody of my kid and all of the dogs but one (a HIT golden who my wife did really care for). I walked away with about 40% of my money (she had none of her own) but with my loved ones. I can't say I never looked back, but surely it was worth it.

First person lists the asset.
Second person lists the value of the asset.
First person then gets to make first pick over taqking that asset for the proce listed or giving the asset to the other party for the price listed.
It's the old "cut the piece of pie" routine for kids - first kid cuts the piec in two, and second kid gets the first pick of pieces. :)
