Shelley,
That's great. I'm glad your own way, Mobjack seems pretty cool. Mobjack way to go, truly a good deed. you are a very nice person. I thought I'd meet Mobjack when I went to the outerbanks a few months ago, but she can be elusive.

There you are Shelley!
We have been worrying about you making it back up OK with no problems. I was just about to pick up the phone and call you.
We had a blast!

So good to see you!! And T is such a sweetie and he SO TOTALLY cracked everyone up jumping in the shotgun seat. Zena is a dollbaby and I secretly want her LMAO!
Save your minutes, you might need them on the trip. You need me, you call me no matter what. I don't give a damn what it is.
You're welcome my dear. After all, that's what friends are for.

Jim, anytime! Just holler. You and your family are welcome. This little Bubba Tailgater grill of mine cooks some mean steaks. A quick walk 3 doors down can usually net some flounder, crabs or whatever is in season right off the boat.
I am elusive but the right bait works if you hold your mouth right in a south or west wind.

By the time I got back to the farm my cell phone was nearly dead and all I could think of was BED.
Come to think of it, that's all I can think of now! My throat is sore and swollen all the way up to my ears tonight. Hope I didn't pass whatever it is to you.
BTW- I saw the food you were passing around the far side of the front seat. Ha ha ha.
T and Xena say "Hey". T is SO not allowed up front.

Thanks again. I'll give you a call when I can talk.

So glad to hear Shelley got the ride she so desperately needed!
Shelley,
You rest up and get healthy before you take off for parts unknown (to us anyway). So happy for you.
Take care!

I am thinking of naming her "Spot." She is a beast with a lot of soul left in her.
She is also going to be "home sweet home" for myself, 6 GSD's and a chihuahua from tomorrow or Thursday (weather dependent) till we get to Modesto, CA.
I hope I can sleep sitting up. LOL

Some of you will recognize her from a couple of hundred GSD events.
No- Fluffy didn't come with the van. Ha ha ha. I think he has his eye on a corvette.
This thing is going to look like something out of Oklahoma in the 30's when I get done loading, hitching up and tying stuff to it. One week of me in your front yard will probably lower your property value 15%. I just hope it STAYS tied on for 3,000 miles.
Thanks again.

Goldenseal.
If you don't have some, go to any health food store. If they have it in bulk, great-get as much as you can afford. If not, buy it in capsules. Most likely, it will be capsules.
Fill up a short mug with hot water. Take six capsules or more (you want a heaping tablespoon full) of golden seal and empty them into the mug. Stir it frequently till it is a temperature that you can stand. Fill your moutn and gargle deep in your throat for as long as you can and spit it into the sink. It will strip off the mucus from your throat that is irritating and soothe the membrane. Stir in between each mouthful you are going to gargle. It will keep precipitating to the bottom. When you get to the last two mouthfuls in the mug, swallow it. It will coat your throat all the way down. Don't eat or drink anything and go to bed. If you have a fever, it will break and you will wake in the morning feeling sooooo much better except for the hideous taste in your mouth.
Goldenseal is one of the "bitter herbs". You have to be brave, in fact this is an American Indian Herb. It is a lot like chocolate without any sugar but worse and with the consistency of dirt, bitter and gritty!
The timing is important. This should be the last thing you do before you go to sleep for the night and don't put anything else in your mouth, even water. You want the Golden Seal to coat your throat and stay in contact for a good long time. If you have a fever, layer up really warm and a scarf around your neck and head so that your body doesn't have to work so hard maintaining a high temperature in an effort to kill the germs. When the fever breaks, you will feel too hot and remove some layers. If you think you have the flu, go to the doctor and get some tamiflu. Speak in a heavy accent and you won't have to pay at the emergency room. Tell them your are a gypsy, you are not likely to run into an interpreter for Romany.
Goldenseal really is a very powerful herb and is not something you would be taking daily for an extended period of time.
It is also good as a poultice on a cut after hydorgen peroxide, or a poutice on a puncture wound-it will draw the infection to the surface. With a dog or a cat, it takes a lot of gauze to keep it in place. Reapply twice a day or as often as they get rid of it. Great for bee stings, it will bring the stinger to the surface where you can pluck it out with a tweezer and a magnifying glass. At the health food store you will see Goldenseal Salve.

Google it. There are contraindications-like don't take it if you are pregnant..
I am concerned that you are heading on the road and get sick. That would not be good for you or the dogs. Herbs work best if they are applied immediately upon symptoms. If you wait too long, it's doctor time.
Take care,
Michele
