I was wanting to see what other people use for toys inside the house for the extreme chewers.  Any ideas?  Thanks for any suggestions.

buy a piece of pvc pipe, maybe 2" diameter, cut into 9" to 12" sections.

always monitor dog's chewing, no matter what the toy, if they break it and ingest it the could become ill.

EXTREME CHEWERS - There are several choices. One would be give the largest possible NYLABONE and carefully monitor and take it away and throw it out before it ever gets to a size that might be swallowed. I also like compressed rawhides, but they are so expensive. An alternative that is also good, but also must be supervised carefully, is giving the dog a large section of cow femur. I don't use the joint ends where the joint capsule is because the dogs chew that off in chips, swallow it and then vomit that back up. I also try to remove some of the marrow for some dogs as it can be too rich and give diarrhea or loose stool. Again, monitor, pick up and throw it out before the dog starts chipping or breaking it, or it is small enough it could become an obstruction or swallowed.

I would not use PVC, it has asbestos in it and my friend that had goldens for many years used to give it to her dogs and they ALL  died of cancer of one form or another.

Well is you asked Benny he would say slippers, shoes, ( smellier the better)

Of the approved Chewies, Benny and I both like his orbee toys from  www.planetdog.com/orbee.aspx  They seem to really hold up. He did start chewing the contiinents off the workd one so I removed them.  He loves the foot ball and the orange sun ball.

I always monitor my dogs with toys or rawhides.  Throwing it away at first sign of breaking.  Good ideas.  I would had never thought of pvc pipe.  Any more ideas?

Bully sticks -- easily digestible; dogs luvvvvvvv them.  Old sneakers (with laces removed)   Kong balls -- works the jaw muscles and dogs luv the squeaking.

Compressed rawhide -- typically used for small breeds and is not digestible -- can be a choking hazard.

All or most of the KONG brand toys are pretty strong you need to make sure there is a hole at both ends;  any nylabone stuff is pretty tuff ( I get the extra large turkey leg, and any extra large stuff they have)  also the brand and I cannot think what it is called but it has a bull dog on the package it is also strong for aggressive chewers.

I'd also say Kong (the black ones are stronger than the red), and Nylabone.  Also if you can get it, plain deer or elk antler (of an appropriate size so the dog can't swallow it, and with the tines cut off so nothing gets poked with it).

sterilized bones work great and last forever, the nylabones that look like a rawhide are very long lasting as are the galileo bones if you giye them rawhide or things that get chewed until they are gone you are training them to destroy! Champion chewer in training, toys that don't go away are best I have a galileo bone that has been here 15 years or more  I would not use PVC because I could see mine saying ''oh look my toys are  buried all over the yard'' in reference to the sprinkler system
