We got our GSD mix dog Sandy from the Humane Society years ago, and she passed away two summers ago at about age 12. She was absolutely the best dog we have ever had. I have always wondered what she was mixed with, as she looked just like a GSD that was a little lighter and smaller. I have attached 2 pictures - the one in the snow was in her younger days that shows her build and her color, and the other 1 is from the summer she passed so she was much skinnier and lighter (all my other pictures are at my parent's house or actual print pictures and I don't have a scanner). Just wondering if anyone has any ideas. Thanks and Merry Christmas!

From the pictures you posted, it looks like she was a GSD.  Just a little lighter and smaller.
Thanks for giving her a good life.
Merry Christmas!

I'd agree too -- your girl was just on the small side, and lightly pigmented. Otherwise pure GSD to my eyes.   My condolences -- and I'm another one that still grieves for one I've lost.  They take a piece of us with them when they go, I think, in payment for everything they give us in life.

So sorry you lost Sandy. She was lovely.

I am very sorry for your loss.  I hope that the joys of your lives together brings you happiness through the rest of the years of her absence.
I agree that she is a small, light pigmented GSD.

Regards,

What is this GSD mixed with?

My guess would be her german shepherd momma got mixed with somebody's german shepherd but heaven forbid I disagree with the experts at the humane society

She looks like she was a dear, sweet dog.  And a beautiful one at that.

Sorry for your loss.   She was a gsd, period.   Mixed with nothing, as far as I can see.    She's at the Rainbow Bridge chuckling at your post even now!

Thank you all for your kind words and suggestions!  It was heartbreaking to lose her and we will never be able to replace her.  You never realize how sad it is until it is your own dog. What a great girl :)

I am not very surprised to hear others thinking the same thing I did, I suspected she could possibly not be a mix after all.  ;) Merry Christmas!
