Hello, Forum-people, merry xmas n a finally-recovering-world-economic- recession in the new year. I have a 6 months old beautiful female gsd living with us in d house. The problem is that she urinates most of the times she is touched(i mean involuntary urination: like a reflex action). Some say she's afraid, other say it's a sign of submission/shyness, or even sign of being nervous. For sometime now i've not been chanced enough for proper socialization due to my work now. Has any one with a similar expirience/cure? Pls tell me what to do. Thanx all..

the only way to fix that is start reconditioning the puppy with food treats, the best possible kind! start working on getting her to come to you and avoid and physical prasie just use verbal praise. do not go towards her and pet her for now ,you must replace the behavior its not something that can be ''corrected'' if she starts to hunker down move away and call her and reward her with the food ,at all costs avoid anything that will cause the submissive behavior to occur

Good advice...also don't tower over her, don't bend over her. My girl would pee if I leaned forward and over her to pet her. Also avoid high, happy sounding voice. Keep it low and calm. And don't get upset if she piddles. That only makes it worse. She is trying to tell you she is no threat to you. Try getting down on her level when you call her to you. It just takes time. Good luck.

You have been given good advice to help your girl stop urinating. When she has stopped offer food that takes time to eat from your hand like a long sausage that you release a cm at a time (submissive dogs will not eat your fingers) and rub under her chin with the other hand. When you think she is ready ask your friends to rub under her chin when they greet her so that it raises her head, most dogs get patted on the head which she may think is asking her to submit and cause her to urinate.
