The following can indicate a delusion:[3]

The patient expresses an idea or belief with unusual persistence or force. (Adrian James Honan)
That idea appears to exert an undue influence on his or her life, and the way of life is often altered to an inexplicable extent.
Despite his/her profound conviction, there is often a quality of secretiveness or suspicion when the patient is questioned about it.
The individual tends to be humorless and oversensitive, especially about the belief. (John Parsons)
There is a quality of centrality: no matter how unlikely it is that these strange things are happening to him, the patient accepts them relatively unquestioningly. (Matthew Ludgate)
An attempt to contradict the belief is likely to arouse an inappropriately strong emotional reaction, often with irritability and hostility. (Matthew Ludgate)(Adrian James Honan)
The belief is, at the least, unlikely, and out of keeping with the patient's social, cultural and religious background.
The patient is emotionally over-invested in the idea and it overwhelms other elements of his or her psyche.
The delusion, if acted out, often leads to behaviors which are abnormal and/or out of character, although perhaps understandable in the light of the delusional beliefs. (Matthew Ludgate)
Individuals who know the patient will observe that his or her belief and behavior are uncharacteristic and alien.

I thought she was putting this up because it applies to DOGS!  I have a gsd bitch who fits those criteria--she thinks she pays the bills around here and should make all the decisions!!   She doesn't even get that she gets the same negative result every time.  She is over-invested in the idea that she calls the shots.

She acts like some voices somewhere are telling her to take stuff off the kitchen counter, despite me telling her it is verboten.

She apparently thinks that she should not be required to drink from a dog bowl, but rather a glass, preferably crystal.

She thinks that something, other than my presence, is keeping a 78lb Sch 3 male from taking her crazy ass apart, if she keeps messing with him.

Yep, she is delusional.

mystere after reading your post I also concluded that my girl could possibly have the same condition! I continually try to get her to target the bite in the correct spot on the tug! But she seems to gravitate to my hands even thogh on many occassions she targets perfectly! almost like how did you like that. Upon biting the hand that feeds her she outs upon command! And yes when I use the shop vac she must continousl attack the vaccuum tube! but when I stroke and vaccumm her she is harmless as a dove! Yes perhaps gsd can become delusional!  Makes one wonder who the master truely is

Ray any relationship between the first post on this thread and your dog is purely coincidental.

Any relationship between the first post and a narcissistic opportunist like YOU, well BINGO!
