Finally! We looked at and shook hands on a bee-yoo-t-ful 10 acre tract yesterday! Almost all level and covered with nice Bermuda and Big Bluestem; one spot that needs plugged and will easily become a small pond; six strand barb-wire all around (ready to put a couple cow/calf pairs onto as soon as we put in a stock tank for water); and an unattractive but livable trailer house that was basically thown in for nothin'. I'll have about an hour's commute to work, but it will be worth it! Dog training may well be put on hiatus for a few months and replaced by building barn/garage, kennels and a loafing shed and working on the house, but at the end we'll have permanent blinds and all the trimmings for OB, PLUS almost unlimited land for tracking! The guy we are buying from has almost 2500 acres in the surrounding 4 counties with a 235 acre tract next to us, that he will sell additional land in the future if we want another 10 or 20! (come to find out, my Mother actually dated him a little bit years ago when she worked for Farm services and he farmed peanuts and soybeans). Really clean land. (Dang Mom! Why didncha marry this guy!?)
We walked it all over yesterday (wearing shorts) and didn't come back with a single chigger and the dogs didn't pick up a single flea or tick. We'll throw some Guineas out there anyway
It's going to be a lot of work for a while but NO MORE NEIGHBORS!!!!!!! At least none closer than 5 acres away

Sounds like paradise... and not impuning your mothers moral standing but how long ago did they date and was it pre you by no more then 9 months??? maybe your an heir and you just don,t know it??? hahhah just kidding... it sounds wonderful.
