Steve,
I simply pulled from this statement and added seeing it done. no contradiction or argument needed or implied.
Yes you can use an E Collar to train a Dog But if you want that dog for the ScHh sport then on that day he will not be wearing an E Collar, The only aid you will have is your voice and not a lot of that
So all you Guys who have trained a Dog with an E Collar to obey your commands how has it faired in the ScHh Sport that will be interesting to know seeing as no one has asked this.
So I provided an additional answer to this question with no hidden meaning. Simply it has been a tool used in training top sport dogs as well as many others.
So maybe your being the touchy one today.

The ecollar fine tunes the dog, the dog is already trained. If a dog is correct only when wearing the ecollar that means the training was bad, has not one thing to do with the ecollar. Dogs are the masters at reading tells, and everybody gives signals, conscious or not. A very oversimplified example would be when you are heeling you may not realize it but your dog sees your nostrils flare, or maybe it's an expression, or maybe your right hand comes back a little, or (the big one everyone sees) you look back to see if he is in correct straight sit position & for him this means correct the sit to straight, not the fact that you stopped, and that is sloppy and faulty. The ecollar removes the tell, so the dog learns your stopping is the signal for a straight fast correct sit. How many times must the dog sit in a schHIII trial? This can mean the difference between an SG or even a G and a V score.
It's also great for distance work.
Again, you are looking for a reaction like a slight ear twitch, lip lick or even a blink, not bring a dog to his knees or make him cry and scream. It is a great tool when used by those with finesse and excellent timing. Like any other tool, it can be mishandled too. I saw a guy give an unwarranted hard correction with a fursaver that took a dog off his feet & could have injured his neck - does that mean fursavers are bad tools? Of course not!

michael, I want to congratulate you on spotting this incredible POS faker. The guy doesn't trial GSD, doesn't show GSD. doesn't contribute anything to the GAD as a breed, other than a couple of "black" shelter ready litters, that he spams this board with.
And yet he spams every thread as an authority. Get a dog from Germany, ask moons. Have a training issue, ask moons. Get screwed, ask moons.
moons, please prove me wrong. What dogs have you titled. How many trips to Germany. How many KKL1. How many Sch. titles. Maybe you are AKC. Any Champions, any Selects or GV.
Where does your immense knowledge of the GSD come from.

ILMD,
I don't raise GADs.
My knowledge comes from paying attention.
I seldom wear a hat, almost never.
Your momma didn't mind.
