Oh, I did it all too!  I fished and hunted with my Dad and brother.  My older sister was too much a girly-girl, no fun at all.  Only place the estrogen took over was the killing part.  I was a better shot than my older brother but couldn't point a gun at a living thing and pull the trigger.  So, I won at target practice instead.  But I did sit on the basement steps talking to my day while he skinned and cleaned the small game.  His butcher friend would come over to slaughter deer in our basement.  It was a party!  Wonderful memories for me.  My Dad is still with us but can't hunt anymore, makes me sad.  My brother is still an avid hunter and very adept, with both a gun and a bow.  I respect hunting but just can't do it myself, give it to me after the fact and I'll cook it.  I do love to fish and still do, occasionally.  My brother and I used to hop on a streetcar in bare feet and go to the wharf in downtown Pittsburgh to fish for carp when I was little.  Those really were the days!

BTW, the snow is starting to lay.  Drake and I will hit the woods when we have 6", I'll take pics.

Seems like every time it snows people rush to the store and buy out all of the eggs, milk and bread.  Something about snow must make people crave french toast.

Well, I "hope" I bought enough food....the store had no eggs left and very low on milk !!   It has been snowing here for about 4 1/2 hours.   The "revised" forecast is up to 30 inches -- with over 30 in some locations.  Egads.......................................

Just got finished (?) with the shoveling, or not.  By the time I got done, I could have started over.  But, it can wait until I catch my breath.  It really is wet and heavy, temperature needs to drop a bit.

Yes, it is a very wet snow -- I'll believe 30 inches of snow when I SEE IT  ! !

In my area they are saying up close to 30 inches of snow.  It's started already. I hope we don't get that much

by beetree on 05 February 2010 - 23:02

Oh dear, our local New England weather man says you poor folks down South aren't going to know what to do with all the snow coming your way. I'll get a little dusting later tonight, but you guys will be counting in feet! And you just don't have the plowing skills you are going to need. Hope everyone stocked up on dog food, too.....

Have fun shoveling but wait till it is over so you don't give yourself a heart attack!.
