Thanks everyone I have researched all of the above and Green Tripe.com is probably the most available to me.  I'll rethink this as I really don't want to use Tripett.

you can also try www.rawbasicsllc.com for grass fed green tripe, they also ship.  they have ground up beef tripe and also chunks of beef, buffalo, and lamb tripe.

So is the canned new zealand Tripett good to feed my dogs and is a 13 oz can ok to split between 2 GSD's at 1 meal?
Or is the green tripe a much better choice than the canned Tripett.

Zin:  from what I have read and learned the greentripe.com frozen is a much better choice,  the
Tripett is canned and pretty rich from what was stated in a prior thread and can cause diaherra because of richness;  therefore I am opting to go with the greentripe.com frozen, much more natural and has all the necessary enzymes, etc.  That is of course as long as I can get it delivered without problems and still frozen hard.  We'll see.  I will check tomorrow (Mon) to get shipment soon.  The canned would be convenient but kind of defeats the purpose of raw.  Nan

Thanks for the info.. So if you order "x" amount and it is rock hard how will you prepare individual size amounts for feeding. I guess I am wondering , can you re-freeze the tripe after making manageable size portions for your dog and what size/weight would be the right amount for a 85lb GSD and how often can it be fed.

Zin:  most of the products from Greentripe.com come in l pound packaging;  and someone said if they run out of the l lb. packages they will cut up the bigger ones any size.  You could split l lb. with 2 dogs I believe would be OK;  they will ship as little as 20 lbs at a time.  Nan

That sounds great because the less messing with that stuff the better. LOL 1 pounders would be perfect for me. Is tripe a once a week thing for feeding ?

I just checked out greentripe.com, wow that must be a special place to work. Which product interests you best?

I get the 2 lb chubbs of tripe/organ blend  and I get the 5 lb chubbs of tripe only from Greentripe.com.  A couple people I know feed the greentripe.com product called  Excalibur, alternating meals  with Royal Canin kibble  and they get great results.  I feed twice a day, the morning meal is tripe & organ meat, salmon oil and vit E, so I  am feeding it every day.  Evening meal is whole bones.   What I do is let the tripe or tripe/organ blend chubb start to slightly defrost, then I get out my (very heavy, and sharp)  trusty old butcher knife and cut it up into meal size portions while still frozen (approx 1/2 lb total per meal).  I keep them in a large tupperware container in my dog's freezer.  I take one portion out before I go to bed and put it in a plastic container with a lid in the fridge over night to defrost for the next morning meal .  We have no odor issue  doing it this way.  I have a seperate upright freezer for all the dog RAW food (tripe, organs, whole bones) because   I buy in bulk and save a little bit of money that way, which is important to me because I try to feed all organic, grass fed or free range meats and poultry.

After you cut the tripe up and put it in tupperware do you put it in the frig or back in the freezer? I had no idea you could or anybody would even want to mess with that stuff on a daily basis.
