Yes, liver must be given in little doses, like half the size of a deck of cards or so. I wouldn't feed cooked pork trotters...why not feed them raw? I give whole calves' legs/feet if I can get them.

VomMarischal, in the UK there is a old recipe for making brawn using pigs trotters and the mother-in-law used to bring 'em round for the hound as she has always done.
And in case anyones interested brawn is essentially bits of gristly meat in a savoury jelly and is only edible to people of a certain generation. They had food rationing in the war you know...

Yeah....I was raised at 500 Kingsway, Manchester 19 (Didsbury Village), by a mom and grandma who NEVER got over that war. They tried to make me eat boiled breast of mutton, too. NO WONDER I'M A VEGETARIAN! Meat is DOG FOOD!

I do feed frozen raw pigs feet once a week. I have found nothing better for keeping teeth nice, white and shiny.

VomMarischal, so you'll know all about the delights of liver & onions, steak & kidney pie, rabbit pie, faggots (and for all you US guys, no not that sort of faggot
) and other 101 uses of cheap meat & offal.
We won a war on that diet, I dunno kids today just don't know their born. Gawd I'm sounding like a right old grumpy fart... we'll if the truth be told I probably am a grumpy old fart!

A a I have eaten enough Brawn to fill up a few Large tubs of it and Dripping by the Bucket full, That was what we lived on as Kids, Dripping Sanwiches, Great stuff, And we had Ration Books until around 1954-55, The Best dstuff you could have in those days was the Dried Egg Powder, Mum used to soak it in Water to hydrate it them make a Omellte Fantastic but in those days you ate anything when we were kids, My Clothes were made from Army Greatcoats given to us by the Personal and on occasions the Lads from the USA who were near us at a base
Mum made us Jackets and Trousers all with Pockets in and proper Buttons, But they itched like hell no matter how often they were washed but you had what you got and Mum did us proud
Still this has nothing to do with feeding Dogs Raw that i would love to do but it is not viable

pigs feet and hocks........................WOW I was WWAAYY off base there...
Steve:
My Dad was in the army during WW2 and in a prisoner of war camp for 11 months in Germany. He was raised on a farm and I still here him tell about nasty powdered eggs he had to eat in the army he hated them... But while in the prison camp he said all they got was Cabage cooked in water and how he wished he had some of those nasty powered eggs then.

Bob, I was afraid to ask what trotters were too, but I have a feeling we were thinking the same thing. Anyway they didn't sound very good and I wrinked my nose the first time it was mentioned.

I also will occasionally feed the whole leg quarters because they are so meaty, I get the backs because they are cheap, but then I end up feeding at least 4-5 portions a day to each dog... A 4 pack of quarters really isn't that much more expensive, around the $4.00 mark and I am feeding four, so once a week I splurge (lol) and get them the quarters. They also get beef heart or kidney a couple times a week.
I give them turkey necks also and they LOVE them.
