Red Cedar is nice, but what you buy in the store is crap.
I make my own but many don't have the trees or the saw to make the shavings.
I did bring my litter indoors for a couple of weeks due to single digit temps but then right back out side.
I can still smell them in my spare room after much cleaning.
Outside is the place for litters, dogs don't need to be watched and coddled so much.
I would not give the dog a bath or take her anywhere that wasn't necessary.

Wow vets? groomers?
After my females finish whelping, all have suckled and all is calm, I start with warm water and clean cloth wipe downs of the back legs and tail. Do this the first couple days and the bitch will feel so much better about herself. Course you have to change the water a couple times the first few days but she knows what you are doing and is quite grateful.
