I have seen many of them in KNPV and in Police dept. There have been some breeders in Europe that cross malis with GS then crossed the females from that back with GS to help with fight drive. In fact I think from talking with the Belgium's and Dutch guys this has happened many times. Van Es form Antverpa use to brag about doing this in his breeding's. Who knows he was a liar and ended up in prison, but many others have confirmed his claims. There was a Gento daughter who I know was bred to a black German Shepherd female and in the litter where 2 that looked just like a mali and grew up to look as good ass any mali around and where strong aggressive dogs. Didn't Helmut Riser claim he was doing this too to improve his German Shepherd.  I like both dogs equally, have had both and would never turn a GOOD GS or Mali down.

I think you will get an ET funny looking dog.

Each breed has its own characteristics which distinguish it from the other breeds, I prefer pure breeds ,specially that the mixture you talk about will result a weired creature.

I have also heard the rumors about the Antverpa dogs, of which my female has in her pedigree. That would explain her size (55lbs at 5 years old), speed and bite. She very much has the mentality of a Mali and passes that along to her puppies. There were some in her first litter that resembled Malis, and no there was no way for any Mali to find it's way in there.

If there is Mali in there somewhere, which it wouldn't really surprise me after everything I have heard, I have no problems with it. She is one heck of a working dog with drives and bite to die for. I had the oppritunity of working with a few decoys that she took totally by surprise with her speed and crushing bite.

I can't remember, if he rescued a pregnant female, or a litter of pups, but GARD had some Mal/GSD pups he posted about.  They looked Damn Nice.  I would have loved to have had one.

`crossing mali to gsd just for the sake of doing it is utter foolishness.  there should be purpose and motive in any breeding and crossbreeding needs to be done with even more caution.  i will be conservative and suggest that a minimum of 3 generations needs to be well planned in advance.  this is why ordinary folks are not encouraged to dabble in such endeavors.  there must be a very clear goal in siight; the breeder must realize that the first 2 generations are works in progress.  the dutch have been quite successful in breeding for function and some of the belgians as well.  if you want to learn what needs done, study their breedings.  i am not saying this is a bad thing to do, but i am saying most folks do not have the patience and perseverance to stick with it and see it done right.  most folks do not have the kennel space to devote to such a project.  most often a good selection can be found by staying within the breed and there is no need to look at crossbreeding to produce what you are looking for.  in some respects, it amounts to reinventing the wheel.

My Mal X GSD cross was a rescue effort. Not as planned breeding on my part.

The mother was not a great dog and produced some nervy, submissive dogs. I do not know anything about the sire (who was the mal)

What we got was very stable dogs, with drive, but lacked courage and were submissive. Dogs that could be sport dogs in the right hands but nothing spectacular.'

One thing I can say is these dogs turned out georgous. I mean beautiful.

For those who wanted one, I advertised them here for free. Got no takers.

I have one left, but my sister stepped on here when she was 9 weeks old. Pretty sure unilateral Dysplastic.

All you are creating is a dog which is a Cross Bred Product, It matters not if it is breed from two true descendent's of two Breeds it is still termed as a Mutt, although it may be also called a Hybrid Cross but never the less Why would you want to do it anyway, Both Breeds have there own identity both breeds give something of quality for the work they can do
Once you start to cross breed any subject you will not enhance any traits which is favourable in that one breed alone you will weaken it, Every time you breed even with the same two Dogs you will get different permutations of what will come out in the progeny simply because the Genes are broken up like a football permutation of trying to get draws from the norm of Generations of breeding from both breeds of Dogs i.e G.S and Mali
Why mess about with something which is already good, Should the outcome not be favourable in most cases then the Type involving will get a bad name in the long run that will reflect of both the true German Shepherd Dog and the Mali. Normal People cannot see the difference in the breeds if they are not so dog minded so in the end you will have three types of Dog in the highlights in not so good a vein That is no good at all
But all this talk will not stop you or anyone else trying it and i guess it is done to make money at the end of the day by calling the Cross breds a fancy name

Just for interest can you tell us for what purpose you would use these G.S + Mali for if you actually went ahead with such a breeding that would be very interesting
