I punished her for Barking, stealing food from other dogs, running off, jumping her mudy paws all over me, being nasty to our other puppies. And I only bit her in the worst cases. Like really biting a little pup

How long have you been taking her to the club ?
by hertoginhelena on 09 February 2010 - 00:02
She's never been into it. We started puppy obedience at 10 weeks. As a reward all the other owners played with a tugtoy only I gave her something to eat 'cause she would just stare at the thing 'till I gave it to her to have.
I took her first to the Sch. club when she wasabout 4 months old. I went a lot to look at her sister (and alwaystook her too), but she only did well in the very beginning.

I can't offer many suggestions based on what you've said, other than to say that you can't punish a dog for something it's done after the fact..
Good luck getting past the issues with your girl. I think it would be a very good idea to halt all training until you've read and understood the book that YellowRose suggested above. In order to train a dog in Schutzhund, or anything for that matter you need to thoroughly understand what the training is about, why it's done, and how to do it.
This is where I bow out...
Best wishes on reaching your goal with your girl!

I'm very aware of this, I think I know how a dog's mind works since Ilived with sheps my whole life, I just don't get why she won't hold on when and if she ever "bites"
I will read the book.

SchH dogs usually have a dominant personality. It may be that she lacks the drive, combined with how you raised her and now may not be titleable in SchH. I don't mean to be be rude or insulting, please don't take my posts in that manner. But because you have bred some litters of dogs over the years, shows me you understand the whelping process. It is no indication of your training ability or knowledge of how to raise a pup for SchH. There are many breeders of AM GSD's that have been breeding for decades that have no clue of what a GSD's temperament should be. I am using that as an example, not saying this describes you. Just my opinion that breeding dogs and training dogs are two completely different things. Most of the dogs you breed are gone by 8 or 10 weeks.
Good luck with your pup,
Jim

This is what you need to know and read ....Susan is or was a very accomplished lady and the whole book is easy to read and tells about everything you need to know..it explains WHY we do not correct for some things...I dont do the sport anylonger but I use the training as it is for German lines of bred dogs.. The white german shepherd doesnt have any where near the same temperaments or breeding so entirely different dog with entirely different drives...Yes , in the Eastern USA there are clubs who have bred the White Germans shepherd, akc registered as White German shepherd DOG...not the same as what our lines are...and yes there are White GSD that are titled in schutzhund, as well as Airdales, pits, cocker spaniels and Rotties, Mals and many other breeds .. BUT
Where is the leader of the club.....have you spoken to him or her???Have you joined the club yet or just visiting....???
READ the Book....it is at Barnes and Noble and can be ordered....I give all my customers one or let them pay me for it and I order it thru the Texas Book Store here in Tyler... 22.00 plus tax the best 25.00 you will ever spend..then later you can go to other training tools by other very good trainers and dvd's to help you ...but first you need to read the BOOK>>>>>

I must say you are very helpful, not insulting. Her sister was and still is the dominant girl of the two.
We only do Sch. because she has to have it if we want to breed her. And I only want to breed her by the standarts because I don't really know the German Shepherds. As I said, I'm a White Shephered breeder.
She is an amazing tracker and an amazing showdog (She was Best puppy in Show at her first show at just 9 months old and only long coated GSD in show). And thát is what I want with her. Showing. I just hoped some one could tell me how I got her to bite and get her Sch. 1 so I could breed her. But it's what you say. Maybe she isn't meant to be bred.
We rarely punish puppies or young dogs for the things you mention.
I think I had to 'cause owning 14 Shepherds (in age 5 weeks - 12 years) isn't always easy if they don't know right from wrong... I mean 1 dog jumping all over you okay, but all 14 of them... No thank you <lol>
