Airlines will not ship a puppy until 8 weeks of age. They would have to be dishonest with the vet writing the health certificate.

I agree in d first place, but let us remember that the said puppy has no mother and therefore nothing like maternal immunity on that pup. I would suggest the puppy's given one shot of vaccine/shipped after 7 days, to allow the new owner socialize the pup, this is an exceptional case, after all i've seen 5 n 6 weeks old pup sent from russia(wickedness to nature), but this is isolated. There's no two-ways as to the pup's predicament, someone should help out, which falls on the buyer.

It is not uncommon to let hunting dog pups go at 7 weeks, before they build too much pack mentality.
However, isn't it standard procedure for people to PAT (puppy aptitude test) GSDs at the 7 week mark?

Know what Kim?   I dont believe that your breder is a creditable person.   Lost mum during whelping - and willing to SHIP the pups at 6 weeks.   I have to "steel" myself to allow a pup to go at 12 weeks onwards, but a pup that has lived life without maternal input, and being taken from the litter at 6 weeks also, so that the social skills are lower is just not a move that should be made.
You can feel for the puppy, as it will go some-where, so perhaps a caring person like yourself that bothers to find out is the right place to go, but test out your breeder. Ask he or she to keep the pup until 12 weeks, so that it can withstand the journey and the change easier - and see what is said. The breeder should be even less inclined to let this particular litter go early if there has been no canine maternal instinct input
I would be very wary if the answer is negative.   Mo Lakin - Mascani.

My neighbor apparently lost her mind and paid 2K for a pug puppy for this recent Xmas. The pup is barely 7 weeks as I type. I'm not sure how it made its journey from OK to CT, but it is suffering from a respiratory ailment already. She tracked the breeder (said loosely, puppy miller is more like it) down and gave her a mouthful. Found out between then and now, here and there, the original price of pup was $300.

Make what you want of this story, it just happens to be true.

6  week puppies need to be fed 4 or 6 times a day. They are not as strong as older puppies, the can get sick much easier. Their immunities are not high, especially since they didn't get first milk. Why in the world would you want to take this chance on such a puppy? Why would you want to submit such a young soal to such hardship? IMO you are asking for a death.

Any decent breeder would not consider letting any pup go under 8 weeks,it seems to me they dont want the hassel of weaning,i am sorry they have lost the mum but it seems to me they are just in it for the money and dont have the welfare of the puppy in mind,i can feel myself getting annoyed now so i better close.

6 wk old puppies do not need to eat 4-6 times per day. This is over feeding, and just as harmful as underfeeding. There are many many studies that illustrate how overfeeding, even this early on, has a negative impact on skeletal growth and contributes to HD, ED, OCD, etc.

Having said that....anyone willing to put a 6 week old on a plane for any reason doesn't need to be breeding.
