Slamdunc, well going on your figures alone that if three incident have happened in Virginia. Well if the same amount happened in all fifty states in the last ten years well that makes 150 Police k-9 at-large in the past ten years not a number that I would consider rare.(hypothetically speaking)I would obviously have to research this but what would you consider a fair number before things should change? How many PD loose in last ten years what would you call a fair number you already stated one was too many, so I think 150 in ten years even to you would seem like a very high number. How about fifty Police service dogs loose in the past ten years fair number? I will do some research and get back with you. Oh and by the way I am sure more people are killed by lightning every year but the difference there is one is an act of god that CAN NOT be prevented and the other is human(police officer)negligence that is and was completely preventable!!

* "The big problem now is many kids are not taught respect and responsibility." *

-- More like society is so messed up and twisted noone wants to give respest where respect is due.

The Stroudsburg School District High School Rifle Team for example. This is a public school with a shooting range in the basement since forever that supports and educates the Second Amendment as intended, shooting sports, and firearms safety training for the entire public and student enrollment.

This School district is now under serious bash festing due to a seriously twisted up society afraid of what ? America ? Maybe the Constitution ? Students ? Teachers ?

The problem isn't the kids per say ... it's with society in general and how it changed over the years.

Baby Eagle, if you start with the kids, the parents generally follow (I say generally).  Children are still teachable, the younger you start.  My son learned at an early age about respect as did I, that included guns.  Children are the future so why not treat them as such!  Too bad the school is getting bashed.  You never hear about the good law abiding citizens.

Avery Hill,
Lets stick with the facts, your hypotheticals and trying to figure out the numbers is ridiculous.  Do some valid research as you said you would and reread my posts, then get back to me with some concrete numbers.  Let's not speculate on this any further, I was very clear in what I said.  I addressed the comment that this happens too often, lets not make numbers up in an attempt to prove a point.  Facts and figures please; or no figures.

Excellent school district...Actually, I wonder if it wouldn't be good to have such classes in all schools, plus having teachers armed and trained to defend their classes in the event of a school shooting...

I agree that there is too much medicating of children...I know too many who are medicated for behavioral problems.  It is disgusting to see normal children being medicated for being normal children, or minor behavioral issues that should be corrected by discipline being covered up be medications that cause a lot of problems.  I won't go into it...major soapbox issue, but suffice it to say that children have never been more in danger than they are today, from the "psychiatric" trade, and from the world at large.

I don't know what happened in the killing of the police dog...Many things could have happened.  But what horrifies me is a society so afraid of being "politically incorrect" that they allow their most precious commodity, their children, their FUTURE, be destroyed on a mass scale, because too many are just too lazy or too busy to be the parents that they are, and do right by their kids.

Shame on those parents, and those doctors who have contributed to the decline of society.  Put down the medicine bottle, shut off the TV, and be a parent...even if that means a good spanking for some things!

I had a few spankings as a kid...And you know, I didn't grow up to torture animals, abuse kids, or vandalise property..Never been on medication, either...:-)
