ETERNAL CONFLICT
In my opinion the only way for the white shepherd to have his own status is, in fact , to avoid the gsd.
All of us know where our white shepherd comes from, but the truth is that it's future as breed has'nt been as good and clear as it is now, since the FCI recognized it as a separate breed.
I know some south american countries (Brasil) where the conflict continues and the profit for the breed is none.
The problem is that finally what we have achieved is two different breeds, the white german shepherd and the white swiss shepherd ,both are the same and need from each other but I'm afraid in some years we will have too many differences to join together.
Anyway I know several kennels in Europe which continue mating white german with white swiss shepherds; to be honest I dont know if those pups will have pedigree but it looks reasonable.

The trouble is with places like the UK, bless them, they are transfering the wss onto the gsd registration, they are then going into breeding programmes with gsds, papered and registered as gsds - end of wss.........we will win one Juan....watch this space.....mind you you may be drawing your pension by then....lol

Hopefully it will be earlier , I'm still 29, it'll be sooner or later but the white shepherd or whatever it's name come to be in the UK will own its own status, its just a matter of time. How is the CONQUISTADORES DEL AZAHAR puppy is going on?

Hi Juan

I could see from your last post you were asking Linda about my Conquistadores pup so I decided to jump in and answer.  Asha is well and growing fast thank you, she is now 8 months old and I am extremely pleased with her.  She currently attends agility classes and her next major show will be Badajoz at the end of October.  (will be travelling with Mathilda).  Everyone remarks on how fast she learns new things/tasks - a typical working breed with a fantastic temperement!

Kind Regards

Hello. Did you have any luck tracking down owners of White shepherds in UK? I brought a lovely injured dog back from a rescue place in Mexico, where I worked. As he couldn't come straight to UK because of rabies laws I spent time in France with him to get a pet passport. He died there just before he was eligible to come. This was 6 years ago and I would love another like him. I was amazed and delighted to discover only recently what breed he was. I was convinced he wasn't 'just' a white alsatian, and now I know!

Thing is all  the breeders seem to be in Europe. Is there any special dispensation to bring them over to UK as puppies, with a passport, do you know?

Thanks for any info you can give me.

Julia

Hi Julia

What a sad story - to hear he just did not make it with you to the UK, but lovely you spent  time with him in France - well done you for trying your best!

Linda told me she has been in touch with some info.

Only have knowledge of a few WSS so far in UK but unfortunately looks like their owners tend to opt for re registration as  White GSD's due to the KC not recognising WSS as a separate breed at the moment.  If enough WSS can be found in the UK then the KC say we can apply for a new breed with them, but again they are looking for differing bloodlines (extremely difficult task - if, near impossible!).  There are of course many great, white GSD bloodlines currently in the UK.

Like yourself, others in the UK have been looking for a pup of this wonderful breed but are unable to have one until at least 10 months due to UK Pet Passport procedures. (There are no dispensations available).  It is only natural that most people would prefer to have a puppy while it is young, to rear and train it their own way, and within their own family environment, so for most  family pet owners 10 months would not be an option.

I can only say from my own experience that the WSS are a joy to own and we will be hopefully apply  for KC recognition sometime in the future.

Good Luck with your search

Sue
