Awww she is very expressive....I want to see a pic of her in full show coat. Did she just blow coat recently?

yes, she is very expressive, but the coat? show coat?  This is my first GSD, I have no clue about her coat, maybe you could explain it .  I keep her as clean as she'll let me, and i keep her brushed. What am i missing?  I know some of you are laughing hysterically, but in one of my post's, i said i could use all the help i can get, any help or info would be greatly appreciated.   laughing- now i'm going thru some pictures of lucy to see if i notice a difference in her coat.

I am not laughing at you, so don't worry. GSDs blow their undercoat a couple times a year. Females tend to blow the undercoat out (when they shed major clumps) a month or more before their heat. Usually, just before they blow coat, their coat is a tad longer, fuller,  and fancy, for lack of a better word. We usually call the fuller coat the show coat, because that is when the dog usually looks its best. When the coat blows, and all the clumps are gone, the dog usually looks like it has a short stock coat. My females look like totally different dogs when they blow out the undercoat. They look leaner, you can see more muscle, there isn't any feminine fluff around the face, and the poofy pants are gone.  My mittelwest males have very short stock coats anyway, so when they blow coat, other than what I find around the house, you wouldn't know they were out of coat.

DeesWolf, thanks.  She has shed like that, her back legs and hips mostly, i thought she would be bald back there. Her neck wasnt as bad though.  So now I know what you meant. Thanks again

She is one lovely girl.  Especially in the second pic I think she looks very feminine.

I'm one proud mama,  but with that said, this is my first german shepherd, the breed has always been my favorite, and I think their all beautiful.
