I think this lady has been through more than her fair share of tragedy lately.  She's trying to keep it all together and I wouldn't want to see her lose any more than she already has.  If each of us could send her $20.00 maybe we could get enough to really make a difference.  It's an amount easily afforded by most and if enough respond could add up for her.  What do you say?

How about having some one set up a trust fund at her back, that every one could send money to if they wanted. It would be safer then sending money to an address.  I for one will send a little, if I knew where to send it safely. Norma

Whatever it takes, just so we can help her in any way possible.

How do you set up a trust fund, don't you have to invole an attorney?  I'd like this to get to her as soon as possible.  We could probably send it to her place of business but I don't want to post her live address so...

Anyone know how to set up a trust or have any other suggestions?

When my husband died a couple of years ago, some people set up a Benefit Account for me and the children at our bank, so people could donate money.  There should be someone in charge of this kind of thing at the bank, and they will take care of the paperwork and getting the account open.  All I had to do was sign some papers with basic info and it was opened, and available for us to use.

I would be willing to help out.  But, just because I am a suspicious old coot, is there any way of independently verifying this?

by Sparrow on 03 November 2007 - 14:11

I agree ProudPoppa,

I don't think this is a scam but you never know who may try to find a tragedy for next time.  We should verify everything we decide to donate to, good common sense.  Has there been news exposure or does anyone live close who can verify with local authorities?  Or, if not, Shandra can let us know which Municipality so they can be contacted.  I'm sure she wouldn't have a problem doing that.  Shandra?

I will donate too, just let me know info when you get it- if you can ,you should try to make the bank account accept wire transfers, with us being spread out, we could transfer money into her account on-line for her.

Assuming the story can be verified, count me in. I believe she can set up a separate account at her bank,  then just let us know the bank address and the account number. We can send donation checks directly there.

Her story is one of the most horrific I've read. It's near unbelievable. Please keep us posted, and thank you for starting this thread.
