I would just add that keeping a high energy dog locked up, must make it bonkers. I would put a muzzle and a prong collar, after that take it for daily walks and slowly socialize. My GSD pup goes crazy if it does not get atleast a 2 mile walk every day along with play time...and he is heavy.

Hopefully the OP got hooked up with one of the Phillipine Mondio Ring clubs.
A high drive working line Malinois needs an outlet/job not a prong collar and muzzle :-(

I check back every so often for an update but nothing.............................................

by Dobermannman on 13 June 2012 - 21:06

It's VERY disappointing when anyone comes on to a list with a problem and scores of people offer advise and the original poster doesn't have the common courtesy to provide an update or sometimes make a second post.
Kind of makes you wonder if most "questions" are posted by bored twelve year olds? .

Yeppir! I don't think none of the responses were harsh enough to hurt their feelings?

LOL The poster took the advise given and contacted me in PM and she is doing just fine. TYVM have the good day! :)

IPOPRO

She posted to the list with her problem and the list  deserves an update from her. Do you know her off the list?
Why is she PM'ing you and not posting here where she asked for advise?  "She is doing fine", great how's  the dog doing? What did she decide to do? What does  TYVM mean?

GilbsK9

Hi,

I basically had the same problem with my female Belgian Malinois. I actually thought females are less aggresive, I may have been wrong there, or atleast in my case.  I always wanted to take her for quiet walks in the park so  I first tried to socialize and train her through a local Mondio Ring Club in Quezon City, but then she brutally bit one of the guys there. It was quite a mess.

A few months ago, i found a professional trainer near our place. It was an additional expense but I thought its much better than risk getting sued and paying for anti-rabies shots, if she ever gets loose.

I am taking her home this weekend after a month of basic and advance obedience training plus personal protection. I am very optimistic, i actually miss her, hope this time I can finally go jogging with her around the park.

Let me know if you are interested so I can make the introduction.

What a shame. The OP has a normal high energy Malinois that needs some basic obedience and manners training. Some here seem to offer good advise. Unfortunately there are always a few drama queens and instead of suggesting an outlet for the dogs energy. They want you to slap a muzzle on the dog and avoid the problem instead of dealing with it :-(
Then there are the "go to a private $$$$$$$$$$ trainer" (and they just happen to know one) and he will
fix all your problems. Now we get GibsK9 who just joined yesterday and happens to have a female malinois
and happens to llive in the PI and took his/her Malinois to a Mondio Ring club????  Wow what a coincidence?
What are the odds?
"I first tried to socialize and train her through a local Mondio Ring Club in Quezon City, but then she brutally bit one of the guys there. It was quite a mess."

Really,  "brutally bit"? I bet the guys that train Malinois to do obedience and CONTROLLED bite work were really surprised and had no idea what to do?
Good thing you had a "professional trainer near your place" to fix your probem and in only a month. Let us know how that works out for you.
Finally: Taking a high energy dog with a history of inappropriate bites and "training" her to do personal protection
is always a great idea ????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Yes, this OP sounds like she is telling a story.

Seems to be alot of teenagers in the Filipines geting mals.  They have no idea of what they're getting into.  They post here and have a hard time accepting that they made a mistake in getting this kind of pup in the first place.  They don't want to do what it takes to make their pup successful.  At the same time, they don't want to find the pup a better home.  The breeders don't seem to be in the picture.  The OP's don't give any information about where they're getting these dogs.  There are some good malinois kennels there, but these breeders sound like backyard folks that are dumping on the pet market.

Maybe some sport folks there can fill us in.

This OP is learning about malinois and is doing a good job.  http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/belgian_malinois/forum.read?mnr=616463

There have been alot of spring breedings here in the States, including myself.  I heavily screened my 2 pet buyers.  One pup was pet quality, the other was not the best working quality.  Both had good stable temperaments.  Sold the pups with health and return contracts.  Both pet buyers were very informed about the breed and wanted the high energy and have done great jobs so far socializing their pups.
