I'm with vk4 on this one. I heard eating tomatoes is good for curing cancer. I gave my step-father-in-law all the organic tomatoes he could eat when he got his cancer. They were delicious but they didn't cure his cancer. Consider, the sadly misguided treatments chosen by Steve Jobs.

Jobs’ “magical thinking” may have defined his business brilliance, but it could have been his downfall in his fight against cancer.

I'm with you on this one...tomatoes don't work ( eye roll) But the drugs that MAY help extend cancer patient lives are too expensive anymore for anyone except very rich people to afford.
Ever ask why cancer is 'normal' these days?

by beetree on 05 March 2016 - 15:03

Joan, didn't you sign up for your health insurance plan? You are covered! It isn't a matter of rich people affording expensive drugs. It is now a matter of whether your insurance company thinks you need them.

I don't ask why cancer is "normal" because I don't believe that is an accurate descriptive. I think it is deceptive, actually. Cancers have always existed surely, and at least as long as sickness has existed. We detect cancers better because we have better science tools. Makes sense to me.

'Sign up' = must use va = that's my choice. No thank you.

Cancer is the 'new' normal for humans and dogs.

Looks like it is vitamin D3 for you.

Don't you ever think about how increased life spans over time really might mask some of the truth in this matter? It can only ever be speculation. So, it really isn't going to bother me too much if you want to go the alternative route and put your faith in that. The really interesting thing about that, having faith in something I guess, is sometimes mind over matter, really does happen!

It is not a world with all the answers that we live in.

by joanro on 05 March 2016 - 17:03

Increased life spans masking the truth? Do you mean increased life span so the longer people live the more probability they will get ca ?
If that's what you mean, I'm sure that could add to statistics. But age isn't the factor for many ca victims.

BTW, I don't mean to suggest I'm ill, far as I know I'm healthy. Many of my friends and my own biological mother have died from ca, cure is not the goal of treatment. Mostly dulling the pain.

by vk4gsd on 05 March 2016 - 19:03

RS what you would like means nothing to me. We have read your endless conspiracy posts, your opinion doesn't count.

by beetree on 05 March 2016 - 20:03

Often, dulling the pain is the kindest thing and, really, all they can do. There do happen to be survivors aplenty, that are a testament to successful treatments. Sorry your mother couldn't be saved, that is always a devastation. Each individual has their own story. Glad to know you feel in good health, I was not intending to make this a personal discussion with my tongue and cheek answer to take your vitamins.

And yes, I would think that living longer would make the stats larger. We aren't intended to live forever. Something's got to give, eventually. Sometimes, that is cancer.

by vk4gsd on 05 March 2016 - 21:03

Individual cases as sad as they are should not be exploited to obscure facts for profit by snake oil peddlers.

the actual gains made by use of conventional therapies can only be seen statistically over a whole population.

For most of history the majority of people were dead at about half the age or less than most will live to currently.

Early 60's was considered a long life a generation ago amongst men. Hell, now people in their 60's are in full employment.

More humans are living longer and healthier than any other humans in the entire history of humans as a direct result of evil science y'all hate.

There will be even greater gains due to rich boomers that want to stay young and healthy forever pouring massive fuinds into aging, health longetivity, quality of life etc.

The issue of happiness tho is another problem.

I guess I missed the part where the article said tomatos cure cancer.Thinking

Cancer years ago was 1 in 10 now it's 1 in 2!!, and has nothing to do with better screening. http://scienceblog.cancerresearchuk.org/2015/02/04/why-are-cancer-rates-increasing/

Too much money to be made with sick people is what it boils down to. Oh, and the world is over populated, so cancer helps with that too.

Canadian researchers find a simple cure for cancer, but major pharmaceutical companies are not interested.

Researchers at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Canada have cured cancer last week, yet there is a little ripple in the news or in TV. It is a simple technique using very basic drug. The method employs dichloroacetate, which is currently used to treat metabolic disorders. So, there is no concern of side effects or about their long term effects.

This drug doesn't require a patent, so anyone can employ it widely and cheaply compared to the costly cancer drugs produced by major pharmaceutical companies.
