This past week was spent exhibiting in conformation at a local show, and my boy DAE GCH Marcato's Fire Lake HT TC "Soul Eater" didn't disappoint me. We won Select Dog two of the four days and on the fourth day, Soul Eater won BOB over his father (a nationally ranked special, finished last year as the #1 GSD). That would have been enough for me, but then he really put it over the top for me by going G3 in the herding group. It was my first herding group placement, and I did it with an owner handled bred by Grand Champion.
I am not ashamed to say that I cried.
I am incredibly proud of this dog and cannot wait to see what the future holds for us. We are off to Michigan this week and then Soul will take a break for a couple of months. I am working on other titles I can train for at home, though I'm going to do my damnedest to get his HSAs and HSCs...maybe I can get him up to intermediate, it just depends on finances. All of my "working dog" finances are being put into Mikasa right now.
Regardless, it was a weekend to remember, and I'm so glad I had friends there to share the moment with me.

Thank you all :). I actually went herding with Mikasa the day before the first show lol. We get out to the pasture at least once a week.
I wish I had more funds to devote to herding so Soul could do a bit more. My instructor believes he could make it through Intermediate without issue, but for my long term goal (a dual champion), Mikasa is absolutely the one I need to focus on. If I can do a double started title on Soul, I could be satisfied with that.
Overall, he is my special and she my working dog, but it makes me immensely happy that both dogs can do well in both venues

Here's to a breeder who truly stands by the dogs she brings into the world, gives them the best of everything so they are at their happiest and healthiest, considers them all to be more than just something furry to display in a show-ring and ensures that all of their drives and talents are utilized. I look forward to your first herding titles with them!

Thank you, hexe :) I hope you get to meet some of my current crew some day. They're not Moo, but...they try to be.
