GSDtravels

This is a good video if anyone wants a perspective from at least my side.  This sums it up for me, but each Atheist has their own reasons for non-belief, so I can't say, as Hemant does, that I'm speaking for "us", even though he is speaking for me :)  Did that make any sense?  LOL...

You just want to go around sinning and not be accountable for it.

So, did you meet God?  LOL

I made some toast and saw in image of the jeebus in one slice....close enough. Gotta be a best selling book to gullible people in that.

I practice my own version of Spirituality that is a mixture of Christianity with some beliefs from Tibetan Buddhism and Wicca, my son has his own version of Spirituality that works for him.  I can't be an Atheist after 25 years or more as a Paramedic and Firefighter witnessing miracles and surviving some situations in my personal life and professional life that I should by all accounts not have survived.  That said, I also have a strong belief in accepting people for whom they are. I will respect the beliefs of others and will not insult those beliefs that are different from mine and I pray I receive the same in return.  I also believe there must be something beyond this life, because I choose to.  We end up for eternity depending upon our actions and treatment of those most vulnerable, especially when there is nothing gained and maybe something lost in helping.

mindhunt i would agree to the point another's spititual beliefs impinge on someone else's life.

vs4gsd I agree, I won't try to convert anyone to my beliefs because that would mean I think I know how to live someone else's life better than they do, I have that supreme knowledge despite not living every single moment that person did.  How arrogant.  Now I ask for the same respect lol.

Travels' last offering on her Religious Freedom thred:

Opposing someone else's marriage just because it is against

your religion, is like being angry at somebody eating a doughnut

because you are on a Diet.

sums it up nicely.  Mindhunt,  you never ever strike me as someone

who would waste their time and mine proclaiming that everyone who

does not believe in what you believe in has to be bad to the bone and

totally immoral and is going to spend that eternity in their version of hell.

Unlike a handful of other regular posters on here.
