I have spent a lot of money on gowing fruit trees, between droughts and floods I have been spectacularly unsuccessful and just buy the one bag of oranges I would consume in a year. I mowed over the lot in the end. This one lemon tree just keeps coming up even tho I have mowed it down once a week for 5 years and stopped giving it water or fertilizer years ago.

it is now a about a foot high right next to dog kennel. Thinking of letting it grow, is it possible it might turn into a real tree with fruit?

RS don't reply, we know you think all is pointless because the world will be over soon......again.

any tips for this tree other than don't mow it down?

PS, the tree just survived our 2 biggest frosts we ever had, I have kind of gained a liking to it and made a truce with it.

yes, it will probably bear fruit providing it doesn't die from drought. Not sure how many years lemon take to fruit put would think you can find this info online.

I finished my yard off today. I have planted about 30 flowering trees and shrubs. Should really look good in the next 5 years or so. I have a place I order from cheap but you get small stock that takes a few years to mature and flower.

Yeah, let it continue to do its thing.  If and when (possibly two

years time) it shows signs of flowering and setting fruit, then

you can show it your appreciation by starting to feed and water

it regularly. (Helps the fruits swell.)  You may never get a huge

crop, but eventually the kennel will get some useful shade  -  and

how many lemons can you need anyway (unless you want to make

lemonade).

Tough little bugger, isn't it ?

I have these horrible things called bougainvillea, I slash them, burn them, poison them, dig them out and they come back thicker and brighter than ever. Full of thorns and a carpet of colourful flowers. Dam thorns cost more punctures on my truck than anything else.they are straight from satan.

But beautiful flowers, much beloved of many famous writers.

You are so lucky.  Pity about the thorns, though.
