LadyFrost

by LadyFrost on 05 August 2014 - 11:08

So, those who know me, know that I am not a baker….never claimed to be one, but once in a while I try….

This was my attempt to make chocolate chip cookies….originally there was 6 cookies per sheet…..i ended up with 2….

Apparently in baking “eyeballing” is frown upon….

they tasted good.....i was out of vanilla extract so i used Brandy, and orange zest.....

Teeth SmileOh, my! At least you didn't burn them!

But, I am not a fan of those huge cookies sold in bakeries, either. Glad your family ate them. Your substitutions sounded interesting!

YR: I have two pear trees. The squirrels usually get the fruit before I ever do. Sounds like an interesting pie!

LF:

Here is my cooking disaster that just happened and now I think of it as a happy accident.

My eldest was having a last party bash for all his friends at our pool, since they are all going in different directions starting off to college. I picked most of what was left of my corn for them to eat. I figured I would melf butter and brush it on the ears to make things easy for the crowd. I got distracted when I suddenly noticed the butter had gone beyong melted, was boiling and getting dark I stopped it as fast as I could, and realized I had just browned my butter. I used it any way. Later I heard one person say, "This is the best corn, ever!"

Phew! LOL

I bet it was good!

LOL...i love "cooked" butter, i wait till it gets little foamy in my frying pan and than i dip things like biscuits, creeps, bread, corn, asparagus, pour it over rice...mmmm....i am hungry now....

P.S.

I found out what i did wrong with the cookies...I was cleaning my pantry and looked at the "flour" i was using...it was a waffle flour...bag looked identical to the regular flour, same section, but with one additional word...waffle...i looked at ingredients and there was all kinds of stuff....so...yeah...explains the mystery of my f-up.
