A FOX News guest actually stated that they should erect the monument, line up the Satanists and shoot them next to it, then remove the statue.  FOX will not even comment, let alone apologize.  Can you see what would have happened had the tables been turned?  The chickens are coming home to roost.

the same disaster is why many athiests and moral christians opposed the teaching of intelligent design as science in schools, cos if you establish in a child's mind that an intelligent creator is in control of the universe then you have the bigger problem of all the different possible interest groups that will want  promote whatever creator they have a personal interest in, ie Yahweh, Satan, Zues...the list is endless and would be major betrayal of children.

You cannot yell FIRE in a crowded theater....the rest of the restrictions would fill a full volume bigger that the Websters dictionary.
Free speech depends on who when where and why.

i wouldn't go that far, but the story seems a bit of both.

As for satanic worshipers they are not actually considered a religion rather a cult, go figure.
i think they do make a point though as far as public property.

by vk4gsd on 19 January 2014 - 22:01

who defines cult V religion, is it a numbers thing? i mean Christianity does not exist without satan. Christianity was a cult for the longest time, the way i see christianity so often  presented by the likes of gouda, prez bush etc pushing for the end time to happen in their time forces the  logical conclusion that Christianity is the premiere cult of death and death worshippers - just read the bible for proof.

It's about the extent of organization and yeah numbers, popular culture.

i have read the bible, i come from several generations of religious family on both sides.
Actually in my families original home town the Ten Commandments are displayed on the court house lawn.
No one in my family ever demanded their beliefs be excepted by everyone.
And the monument has never been challenged, it's simply a community choice for now at least.
There are no religious schools in the community, only public schools, and no extremism.

Who what when where why not all communities are the same.

by vk4gsd on 19 January 2014 - 22:01

yeah my community the devout and the non-believers co-exist really well, nobody really discusses such things unless asked. it's all no big deal either way, just not an issue to anyone.

ETA, we even have a jesus guy (claims he is the Messiah) buying up lots of land and started a commune with city folk that have come out, he is more of a curiosity/novelty and a tourist attraction than anything to the locals.
