Hippies were a local phenomenon in California and spread some to the east coast but was short lived.
Peace and love, flower power bullshit.

Freaks were square pegs that didn't fit in the round holes, didn't really conform to the system, rebelious in nature and active.
Some of the same qualities as hippies but without the all the silly shit.

in my estimation they grew into precisely that which they claimed to be rebelling against, imo.

That's the really sad part VK4, seems they all sold out to the establishment after the war ended.
