Sorry, couldn't see how to embed this video. It really makes me wonder how far underground our ant hills go. Amazing and yucky at the same time.

I have an ongoing war with the fire ants in the yard. Currently, I am winning through the use of chemical weapons, and aided by some fairly significant flooding before spring began.

Thank you Carlin!
LOL, I don't think I have those darling fire ants here, if I do, not in great numbers as I've never seen them. I'll have to check on that!
You know what I did see, drilling a hole in my new cedar shed is a carpenter bee!! He isn't supposed to even be living in Canada from what I could find out. I hope he was just visiting (his relatives will be wondering why he didn't come home as I smashed him dead) because I really do not want anymore of his ilk around!

If you see a carpenter bee has drilled a hole, plug it up.
There will be eggs in that hole and their numbers will increase.
I've tried many ways to rid myself of them and dollar for dollar I get more results and some fun by shooting them out of the sky with a shotgun...LOL
Poisons didn't work and cost about the same, I just wait for them to try to get into the trim that hides their colony and blast away, in time they will build colonies.
In a week or so I can get rid of them, but only for a season, they do come back because I have so much exposed wood.
What amounts to about a half inch hole in a two by four turns it into a one by four, not good.
Nice Ants.....

Eeks, thanks for the advice Moons, I will do that right now. I hope I am not too late.

I use a branch about the same diameter as long as I can stuff in the hole, they starve before they can chew out.
If you can get to the hole..LOL
I used several poisons that didn't even phase them.
If it wasn't for the structural damage they really don't cause any other harm, never been stung, they do pollinate things.
