I have a dell laptop that is toast. I heard Apple has better protection against pop-up and stuff. Internet explorer is bad. It pretty much does whatever it wants to. It is getting where it almost isn't worth turning it on. I had it all gone through 2 weeks ago by geek boys and it's worse now than before.

Though I'm not an Apple subscriber, I would say that the quality is amongst the best available if you're willing to pay the premium. You don't necessarily have to pay that premium to get similar quality. Lenovo (IBM) produces an excellent product on the microsoft platform. Issues with IE have nothing to do with hardware quality, and I have been so fed up with IE crashing all the time that I have started using the Firefox browser quite a bit instead. Also sounds as though you may have some malware. What kind of A/V do you use?

BTW - one thing I started using on IE that helped tremendously was an add-on (which I typically do not use at all) called "ghostery". It eliminates almost all of the tracking garbage inherent to surfing the net. It has to be paused to use some features on some sites, but for instance, PDB is displaying zero ads on my screen right now.

McAfee, malwarebytes. I do have firefox but I don't have it as default. Adds, pop-ups are terrible. If I search something It will load hundreds on temp files. I have security set on medium or I don't get info from a lot of websites, and don't save log in info.

I've used McAfee, and it is probably my least favorite. I would download the freeware "Ad-aware" by Lavasoft, and run a full scan. I would install ghostery from their website (works with 32-bit IE up to version 9). I would block all 3rd party cookies for the time being. I would also download and run "hijackthis", utilizing this link to interpret the results of that scan. http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=38752 . Two other solid malware scans i have used are "spybot search and destroy", and "super anti-spyware". An array of these things may seem redundant, but a ridiculous amount of pop-ups with IE is typically a thing of the past as long as the blocker is turned on. Also, if windows isn't updated faithfully, security problems can become an issue.

Asus computer - Firefox browser with these great add-ons ad block plus and WOT a good anti-virus program, malwarebytes.org and superantispyware.com this will keep you safe and keep most of the tracking things off your computer. Mcafee is not good please consider Norton, Zone Alarm or Kaspersky anti virus.

I have an Asus laptop and it is top quality with a 17 inch monitor.

I have never tried a Dell, have heard good and bad about their computers. If you have the money an Asus laptop is awesome but I would look for something with an option to stay with Windows 7. I have read a lot of people complaining about Windows 8.

+1 for Asus.
