Good morning everyone.
I am not sure who all has heard of SSG Terry Achane. Long story short, he was sent on to a new duty assignment by the Army and his wife wanted to stay in Texas for the last 2 months of pregnancy. 10 days after he left, she cut all contact, left for Utah, and basically sold his daughter in an illegal adoption. SSG Achane has been fighting for nearly 2 years to get his daughter. He finally brought her home January 25. The other family has filed an appeal trying to get this little girl back. The appeal is in March and will be heard by the Utah Supreme Court.
Because of all the court hearings and lawyers, SSG Achane has over $35,000 in legal fees owed which are due to go up through the appeal. If anyone is willing to help and donate, please go to this link. Links to the news stories are in it.

I need $57,000.00 for a very good reason, the drop off location is a trash can at the corner of Vine and Third street, in Doolittle Mills, Indiana.
Come alone, or the Bunny gets it.

Two Moons, this has been all over the news and is easily verified. No trash can needed.

Sorry,
I find it inappropriate and in bad taste to pander for money on this forum.
I'm sure there is a need and equally sure there are too many in need to list here.
We all have needs, some more than others, most don't ask for money from strangers on an internet forum, but it has been done here before.
Good luck hope you do well, but I still think this inappropriate on this forum.
Moons.

I did it in the off topics for a reason. This is not for me but as a veteran and Army wife, this shows how jacked up Soldiers lives can get when they leave. I figured it was better to spread the word than to hope it spreads on it's own.

I'm sure your motives are pure and there is a need, but there is so very much need out there.
Yes military life is fubar, it always was.
Maybe kids should be told this before enlisting, instead of the hog wash and lies they are told by recruiters.
What to you makes this story any more urgent that anyone else's?
Do you know these people yourself?
And what of the other couple, they have legal fee's too and they did nothing wrong.
I dunno, just don't care for the pandering.

The lawyers want their money so they can pay the rent and groceries? Why don't they have a heart and donate their time?

Moons,
If you actually take the time to read the articles I posted, the other family raised over $22000 for their legal fees. However, they knew the father did not consent to the adoption but decided to try and keep his daughter anyways. Even the judge stated in his ruling that the family "deliberately thwarted all attempts for Terry to be a father". Not to mention they failed to follow the court ordered reintigration and refused to allow Terry to see or speak with his daughter until Terry's lawyers went to file for contempt.
The other family is a very well off family and the husband is a lawyer for XanGo. SSG Achane is an E6 in the Army and makes about 1/10 what they do.
If you do not want to help, that is your choice. However, to belittle a Soldier's situation just to be a pain is a bit much.

Joanro,
Terry's lawyers have donated half of their hours. This bill is actually way less than most are at this stage. He also had to add on an appellate law firm to handle the appeals. The majority of fathers fighting Utah for their children actually have legal bills over $200,000.
