Why won't the USG or individual states allow the labelling of GMO?  Who is providing massive lobbyist dollars to stop this in the US?  Each person must decide about this for themselves. Some European countries require labelling of GMO products and some have banned some of them too.

The US Food and Drug Administration said: 'We know of no information showing that the foods created from these new methods differ in any meaningful or uniform way.' It was a big lie, a statement of sheer insanity, and people like FDA/Monsanto double agent, Michael Taylor, knew it.

A lawsuit later brought to light 44,000 internal FDA documents which revealed that GMO can produce allergies, toxins, new diseases, antibiotic-resistant diseases, nutritional problems and cancer-causing agents. They also confirmed that scientists and experts at the FDA had said that GMO food was different from that produced normally and therefore had different risks. The effect on human health in GMO-soaked America has since proved catastrophic and potentially genocidal.

How come, then, that the FDA said publicly that there was no difference between non-GMO food and that produced with GMO, especially by Monsanto, which has led to the FDA not requiring independent safety checks on GMO products? One of the key people responsible for taking that line was Michael Taylor, the number two at the FDA, a former attorney to Monsanto and later a Monsanto Vice-President for Public Policy.

Taylor was also at the US Department of Agriculture between 1994 and 1996 and in his government roles he was highly influential in the decision not to insist that GMO had to be labelled which has denied the public the free choice to eat or not eat GMO food.

All this must have cost the lives of multiple millions of people and animals since then and caused suffering to untold numbers who have had their health devastated by GMO. It was also Taylor at the FDA who ensured that Monsanto's genetically-engineered bovine growth hormone (rbGH/rbST) could be injected into cows to increase milk production without any labelling for people to make a choice.

He also wrote a paper saying that if producers of milk without the growth hormone labelled their milk as such they should be mandated to include a disclaimer from the FDA saying that there was no difference between milk with bovine growth hormone and milk without it.

Taylor has been described as possibly being responsible for 'more food-related illnesses and deaths than anyone in history'.

This man should be in jail with the key thrown mid-Atlantic, but where is he now? He was appointed by Obama to be his 'food safety czar' in charge of all United States food safety policy at the FDA and is now Senior 'Advisor' [yeah, right] to the Commissioner of the FDA. Taylor's policy is Monsanto's policy and there can be no greater confirmation that corporations control governments than Taylor's career with Monsanto and government agencies which are supposed to protect us from Monsanto.

This is why Big Biotech is getting virtually all that it wants from the FDA while organic farmers and growers and small farms in general are being destroyed by a mass of new and ludicrous laws on the grounds of 'food safety' imposed by FDA SWAT teams made up of monumental goons with guns in their hands and air in their heads.

but you've not even begun to scratch the surface of the dangers or how wide spread the problem is or where it's heading now.

This is nothing new, I wonder how many people really know or understand it.

Yes, Moons, as usual you are correct. I don't understand it but I am learnig what I can about it.  I was recently made aware that many dog foods with grains harm the dog eating it not only because of the tag along chemicals and genetic aberrations they elicit such as unwanted gene transfers in the gut, but also because of increased tendency for GMO grains to cause bloat.  I have friends who have gone grain free and had good results. GMO in dogfood appears to decrease fertility and cause increased rates of illnesses. 

The more I read and study about GMO's the worse and more complicated it seems.  There are so many serious aspects to all related to this and the time to prevent massive illnesses and deaths is short for the world. Some researchers believe GMOs have been purposefully developed to drastically decrease fertility (and population) as it is now doing, as well a create much higher rates of disease and death in humans.  Others believe that the food manufacturers and seed manufacturers have absolutely no moral values and are 100% profit driven and could care less about any damage to those consuming their products as long as they make billions.  And the whole subject of "suicide seeds" is astounding. Just guess how a non-replicating hybrid plant line could generate extreme dependency on purchasing increasingly expensive seeds each year and the control taken from the farmer. 

Note that there have been hundreds of Indian Farmers committing suicide because they bought GMO seeds that wouldn't grow right.

But who is there in high positions of Govt to stop this?  No-one, since they are all paid off and bribed here in the USG also.  The solution must come from the people to stop it by refusing to purchase it like folks in some European countries have done, which is forcing it out and by forced referendum like in California.

I believe GMOs are both fascinating and frightening in what they could do to the food chain and us in the long run if not tightly regulated for safety.  Anytime you alter genes, you get a "gift" that can keep on giving for generations for good or bad.  Also, the FDA requires voluntary labeling of GMO ingredients or GMO food. 

Those of you who like FlavrSavr tomatoes, they are GMO.

The Office of Surveillance and Compliance in the Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM) is responsible for reviewing data on genetically modified plants intended for use in animal feed. The Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, which delineates FDA's regulatory authority for foods, defines food as articles used for food or drink for man and other animals. The Act, however, does not require pre-market clearance of food and thus, many genetically modified plants do not require formal pre-market review by the FDA as they are food.

The labeling of food derived from genetically modified plants is a matter of some controversy. FDA does not consider the method of production, including genetic modification, to be meaningful information which is required to be on product labeling unless the modification results in a significant material change in the food product.
