Newly revealed Coptic fragment has Jesus making reference to 'my wife'
By Eric Marrapodi, CNN Belief Blog Co-Editor
(CNN) - A newly revealed, centuries-old papyrus fragment suggests that some early Christians might have believed Jesus was married. The fragment, written in Coptic, a language used by Egyptian Christians, says in part, "Jesus said to them, 'My wife ..."
Harvard Divinity School Professor Karen King announced the findings of the 1 1/2- by 3-inch honey-colored fragment on Tuesday in Rome at the International Association for Coptic Studies.
King has been quick to add this discovered text "does not, however, provide evidence that the historical Jesus was married," she wrote in a draft of her analysis of the fragment set to appear in the January edition of Harvard Theological Review. The divinity school has posted a draft of King's article to which AnneMarie Luijendijk, an associate professor of religion at Princeton University, contributed.
"This fragment, this new piece of papyrus evidence, does not prove that (Jesus) was married, nor does it prove that he was not married. The earliest reliable historical tradition is completely silent on that. So we're in the same position we were before it was found. We don't know if he was married or not," King said in a conference call with reporters.

The Smithsonian Channel also announced Monday that it will air a special on King's findings on September 30.

Was Jesus married.....no..... It's always some "scholar" or someone with a PH D or from some "school of divinity or school of theology" who comes up with some of the most off the wall garbage about the scriptures. Amazing how these men can twist things and "find" things the way they do. Those schools are dangerous for any professed Christian. Jesus did not marry Mary Magdalene.
Initial dating for the honey-colored fragment by the team of scholars puts the papyrus piece coming out of the middle of the second century.
Interesting how what was found is from the mid second century....Just as many of the other "so called" gospels were dated, like the gospel of Judas, Mary Magdalene, Philip, and many of the others that are not in the bible. They're not there for a reason. I would be hard pressed to believe anything written after AD 70. They would not have been inspired, and they would have been written by other people with motives to twist and pervert the scriptures. Just like the gospel of Judas, things would contradict the other gospels. In Judas gospel for example, it actually presents Judas a hero, not a betrayer. Jesus and Judas had secret conversations in which they planned the betrayal, and Judas was given the keys of knowledge. Supposedly, he alone was granted to know the mysteries of the universe, and died a hero. See what I mean? Another "lost book" is the Gospel of Barnabas, in which Jesus' childhood is described. He is portrayed as a strange demon-child who did not get along with playmates and regularly struck other children blind (or worse).

He didn't in the New Testements, but it is clear she was most definately the love in his life in the new testement and that "Mary" supported him financially according to Luke and she was the lady at the wall, no doubt. She is also, I believe, to be the "Mary" John wrote about during the crucifixion, empty tomb and the first lady the angel told about Easter.
Keeping in mind, the victors always write the books.

Now for good story book read The Da Vinci Code somehow connects everything in the new testements plus the scrolls .. I've never read the scrolls but the way The Da Vinci Code connects and decodes dates, times and history is clearly for reading enjoyment if compared to the new testement. Mary being Jesus wife or to be wife does make sense to me as a conclusion to The Da Vinci Code story, but not in the Bible as written. Not in the Bible as printed I should say. Jesus loved her and she loved Jesus that is evident in the Bible.
Although whoever came up with the last supper idea that Mary Magdalene is supposed to be beside Jesus .. and she isn't. Is quite amazing to say the least. Because I have those Last Supper wall carpets, pictures, tapestries all over my home and since watching that Da Vinci Code I have never NOT imagined Mary Magdalene beside Jesus - him holding her hand. Crazy. It's almost like she should be there and was there but taken out.
What I'd like to know is how that Pope Gregory the First got everyone to believe Mary Magdalene was a prostitute .. because there is nothing in the Bible saying she is anything more than a sinner.
Who knows what to believe anymore. Either way, fairy tales, story books, romance novels - Mary Magdalene and Jesus are some of the best reads. Good enough for me. LOL
Seriously though, Jesus is getting married the second coming of Jesus Christ.
