Last week, I managed to get away for 4 days, for the first time in the 2 1/2 years since I bought the kennel.
I visited my mom in Quebec. She's a dog lover (used to have springer spaniels) so the two pooches went along, and proceded to shed ALL OVER her nice clean, neat home! I spent 45 minutes vacuuming before i left!
Here are some pictures:
Grey morning and perfect calm:
Sorry, the text editor is driving me friggin' nuts right now. I'll try again later. It even ate the text I tried to add about my vacation! GRrrrr!

Early morning reflections
Okay, apparently the text editor is only going to let me post ONE photo! GRRRR!!
But at least it's the best of the lot!!
The dogs had a GREAT time! They followed me along the shore when I went canoeing, and got themselves absolutely filthy. Star swam out to the canoe, and wanted to get on board. I had to cut my canoeing short, because the bank was so very rugged, and I was afraid Ranger, who is now 10 years old and a bit arthritic, might hurt himself.
I went back and laid on the dock. One dog lay at my head, and the other at my feet. NO ONE was going to sneak up on me unannounced while I sunbathed!
Before I went home, Ranger met his original owner and his wife. He jumped all over them as if they were long-lost friends, even though it's been 7 years since I took Ranger home with me.
There is NOTHING on this earth as forgiving as a dog! This guy kept Ranger on an 8 foot chain for the first three years of his life, and didn't even give him toys to play with. He also had a choke chain around Ranger's neck, and didn't notice it was hurting him until it had grown into the skin.
R.(the ex-owner) is a building contractor, and a neighbour of my mom's, and does lots of work for her. The power went out just as I was leaving, which meant the water pump had to be reset. Even though R. was all dressed up in a suit and tie, ready to go to a wedding, he was there in 15 minutes and climbed down into the crawl space to fix it for her.
I guess I have to take a page from my dog's book, and forgive him. Now that my mom is widowed, she needs people like him to look out for her.
R. built the steps in this picture, so Mom and her husband would find it easier to walk down the hill to the cottage:
Okay, it let me post the picture this time. I connect to the net by a Roger's rocket stuck
er, stick, which works off the cell phone network. I don't get a very strong signal sometimes, due to the location of the tower. This time around, I noticed the signal strength was almost up to maximum, so I decided to give it another shot. I guess there must be a connection between signal strength and ability to post!
Yet one more reason to hate that stupid fart stick!!
Let's try one more:
Nope, signal strength is down to 3 bars instead of 4 (which is where it was when I posted the above picture), so it's not working.
Mother and daughter:
Blasted thing won't even let me copy and paste the link now!! GRrrrr!
Oli, help!
