Recently there has been a public outcry in some states about house fires and medical device interference and medical problems caused by the installation and operation of SmartMeters.  Some electric utility supplier have stopped installing them and oters are instituting opt out options, which cost the user additional fees. Numerous well respected scientists feel that there are serious EMF related medical issues related to the use of the Smart Meters.  These meters are very expensive and will result in higher electric rates. Don't expect this controversy to go away soon.  It is increasingly and soon will become one of the prominant social issues in contemporary American society.

Bee, sorry but the article you reference is completely wrong and has no respected medical authorities behind it.  Numerous well qualified and respected medical experts have come forth and stated that the pulsed beam microwave emissions can be toxic to some individuals.  Learn about the darkside of smartmeters.

Hey Preston,

Almost everything has been proven bad in one form or another. Name it and I am sure a study can be found to prove it causes cancer or some disease.

Yes, point well taken.  Many things can be abused or misused. Many new technological developments can be great tools and conveniences, but when misuded or used to excess can be harmful.   The key is to examine the political and financial forces at play when these technologies are imoplemented and how the science is warped or misused to jsutify harmful applications. There have been numerous house fires started by faulty Smart Meters.  As of now Smart Meters are not even UL approved and thus technically are not suopposed to be installed according to most electric utility internal regulations. Also, some folks with medical devices or those 3-6% that are proven to be EMF or RF sensitive have been adversely affected.  Some CPAP machines and electric motors have been damaged by the use of these meters which can create "dirty power".

I have a Smart Meter.  We used to get estimates all the time because the meter readers wouldn't want to come on the property because of the dog.  I don't worry about them at all, have had it for years, too.

Unfortunately, Preston, I think you see boogey-men behind every bush and corner these days, and frankly I worry about you.

beetree, you are "projecting" again.  This is a well known psychological defense mechanism used by folks who can't handle the truth. Rather than do some basic reserach you attempt to smear the messenger, the oldest trick in the book. What I post is factual and based on experts and eyewitnesses,.  Your comments are emotionally driven drivel.

I suggest that you open your mind and step out from you bias and narrowmindedness. Yes, the truth can be upsetting, but we all need to do our best to expose corruption when we see it or experience it.  Thanks to the Internet, much of it is being openly presented and discussed for the first time and this brings much hope.  To date many folks have been brought to justice because of the Internet used as an alternative media tool.

Not all SmartMeters use poweful pulsed beam microwave emissions every minute.  Some communicate each minute back through the electric service line to a base station close by.  And scientists have shown as of toady only 3-6% of adults are known to be EMF sensitive (where their EKGs and EEGs change from the emissions).  If you have a smart meter and have no problems, great.  But they have started numerous housefires and one company has stopped installing them.  None are UL rated right now because they won't pass UL safety standards.  Those folks that are harmed by these meters obviously should have the right to an alternative.

Have you been to see a doctor about the possibility of dementia setting in? I don't mean to be cruel, but you do present with some concerns. Of course that would be almost impossible for you to admit, so we will be chasing around the mulberry bush on this one.

I would be more concerned with naturally occuring Radon in my home over the SmartMeter, that's for sure.

beetree, your ignorance shows clearly.  If you don't like a post, just pass over it.  No need to make a personal attack about someone you know nothing about.  Your posts attempting to smear me and others tell much more about you and your mental status than anything else.  You have a long pattern of control freak, bullying behavior here on Oli's excellent site and so far I haven't seen you contribute anything meaningful. You talk big, but project little.  I think your bluster is a result of glaring willful ignorance. Not once have you disagreed by dealing with any specific evidence.  Either too lazy or just can't.  Cheers to you.

Preston, I have followed plenty of your links, your "evidence" over and over again, and it always ends up as so much junk. That is the basis of my opinion, something I am entitled to have. To hear the truth is not a smear, it is a call to get someone who is your friend or family to take notice and help you, because to a stranger, it doesn't look good.
